“Fantastic B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2014

Spent 2 nights here a couple of weeks ago and were so pleased with our choice. Peaceful location but very convenient for the surrounding area's attractions. We were lucky enough to have the garden room, with it's own bench and table outside and 'front door'. Spotlessly clean room with everything we needed, pleasant seating area, comfy bed, tea/coffee and Tine's wonderful home made muffins. Breakfast fantastic, so much choice we wished we were staying longer to try them all. Jim and Tine are very knowledgeable about the local area and happy to lend maps - in fact nothing is too much trouble, lovely friendly couple, always happy to chat but not intrusive at all. Hope to go again soon!

Me and some friends stayed here during a hiking trip in the lakes. From the moment of our arrival to the moment we left we were welcomed and given truly amazing service. The food we had for breakfast was excellent with an amazing array of choices.

My niece and I stayed overnight in this lovely B&B. Jim and Tina were perfect hosts and the breakfast was as good, if not better, than any first class hotel. The room was well appointed, beautifully clean and inviting. I only wish we had booked for another night. I would highly recommend staying at this fantastic B&B.

If you want somewhere to stay in the Lake District, then this is the place to book. What I look for in a B&B is a very comfortable bed, spotlessly clean rooms, excellent food and something a little bit different. All of these came in abundance at Lowthwaite B&B run by Tine and Jim. Tine is clearly an excellent cook, producing many of her own homemade jams, marmalades, breads and muffins. The breakfast menu was very wide ranging offering some unusual main courses. The house has lovely views too. Thanks to Tine and Jim for accommodating us at very short notice. This is a B&B not to miss.

Tucked into a hillside with great views this B&B surpassed our expectations. Very friendly and warm greeting with super be rooms furnished and decorated by the owners using pieces brought back from their time in Tanzania. It brought back great memories for us for our travels here. The rooms are well appointed, great shower and bathroom. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful with a good choice of dishes beautifully presented. A really cosy B&B, well worth staying for more than the one night we enjoyed.

Room Tip: The upstairs rooms seemed to have the best views; the price varies with the room size.

We stayed 3 nights in June and can highly recommend this B&B. Tine and Jim were fantastic hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Tine is a fantastic cook producing lovely meals, breakfast has lots of choice and we had a pre-booked evening meal which was delicious. Both Jim and Tine were knowledgable about the area and helped advise us on some walks. The room was lovely with unusual African furniture. We will definitely return.

We stayed here for 3 nights recently to attend a nearby wedding. Lowthwaite really offers everything you could hope for from a countryside B&B - it's in a beautiful location, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the hosts (Jim and Tine) know and love the local area, and the food is amazing (much better quality than I have seen in any other B&B - we had dinner one night too and it couldn't be faulted).

You should be aware that it's fairly remote (no nearby shops/pubs), but taxis are available and the location just adds to its charm.

I would happily recommend (and return to) this B&B.

Room Tip: If you plan to sleep in late you might prefer to avoid the rooms which are just off the breakfast ro...
