Anton and Penny were excellent hosts. We stayed for one night in the log yurt which has everything you can imagine in it - 8 beds (4x bunk beds) and a very spacious shower room. We had spend the day cycling and the Strickland arms had bike storage available - 2 of the groups bikes had problems which made them impossible to ride home the following day - Anton and Penny very kindly lent us their very expensive electric bikes - talk about going above and beyond!! What a fantastic experience - we cannot fault this place. Anton's brother was also happy to take group photos for us - nothing was too much trouble. Penny cooked some awesome all English breakfasts! Highly recommended!!

Friends and I were staying for the weekend at a bunkbarn at the local village of Morland and were disappointed on arrival to find the village pub had closed down.

The next nearest pub (2.5 miles away) was the Strickland Arms so we jumped in several cars and headed there consigned to the fact that we would need some designated drivers to get to and from the pub when we planned to eat on the Saturday evening.

The pub is an excellent country pub with eating area, bar and games room as well as the shrine like Wiggo Bar dedicated to cycling hero Sir Bradley Wiggins who visited the pub in 2012.

The beer is excellent and well kept.

The menu is unlike anything I have seen in a pub in years with such an amazing choice its hard to believe. One of our friends is vegetarian and he was delighted with the veggie choice on the menu as well. Food ranges from pub classics, to fish dishes, inrenational cuisine and curries, there really is lots to chose from for every pallet.

The bar staff on hearing our plight on the Friday evening kindly offered to sort out transport for us on the Saturday evening.

They took a phone number and texted to confirm everything was sorted for us whilst we were out walking in the lovely local countryside on Saturday.

The transport had to make two trips each way for our party and we really were made to feel special and most welcome whilst we were at the pub. Nothing was too much trouble.

The service was friendly but not over-familiar and the food for everyone was just perfect.

A brilliant weekend was had by all thanks to the staff at the Strickland Arms going the extra mile (2.5 actually) to help us out.

Excellent pub, excellent food, brilliant hosts. Had a lovely night here, stayed overnight in our Motorhome in the car park and Anton even provided water and electric! Our 4 year old son loved the play area and the pool table also. Great banter with the locals too. Will visit here again.

From the moment we spoke to Anton on the phone we knew that we would get a very warm welcome & have the service that was promised and that indeed was what we got. Nothing was too much trouble for Anton & Penny & their great helper mike. The food was fantastic ( you must try the pies) accommodation perfect & hospitality absolutely amazing. Their enthusiasm shone through & it was a delight to be there & be transported by them.
If you are doing the coast to Coast look no further!

Stayed as friends were staying at near by campsite and not really practical camping for one night with a 10 month old. Booked into wrong room by mistake but they moved our belongings to new room ready for us returning in evening. Room was very confy and loved how stone wall was a feature. Was modern with the twist. Breakfast was lovely. Will definitely go back.
