Second time we've visited and won't be the last!! This place is so tranquil and reminds us of yesteryear.. The quaint Victorian teashop sell beautiful home made fayre, we had ham baguette and minestrone soup (absolutely gorgeous) and tea served in China crockery...so quaint! Then we mooched around the cages of different birds, all with extremely informative notes on them so we learned lots.
You then move into a garden area with cages round the perimeter, firstly the gardens are pristine and plants perfectly trimmed and look amazing!
Then we went to see birds. Some are tethered rather than in cage and it explains why on the info pad... But you are so close to these beautiful creatures!!! Larger birds are at one end include bald eagle, boobook owls, and the bigger owls (Otto is awesome)
We then went thtough to flying area, where a chap brought out Bernard and other birds. Each one he knew everything about the bird the species habitat etc, hes a true font knowledge re prey birds and so entertaining, could listern to him for hours!!! Totally enthralled by the birds, the place, his knowledge, the total experience, he interacted with the kids letting them have birds fly to the glove! Absolutely brilliant!

We love it here, though the flying display is over two hours, but it flew by pardon the pun!, though smaller kiddies would and did get bored as it long time to sit still.
We thoroughly THOROUGHLY enjoyed it!

We were told to visit by a lady in a local pottery and the centre did not disappoint. We arrived just in time for the aerial display thank goodness. The birds were amazing and you can literally feel their wing tips brush your head as they zoom by. The guy running the display was informative, interesting and hilarious (funnier than a lot of stand ups I've see). Never over 2 hours did the interest wane and his love for his birds was obvious. It was great the kids got to handle a Harris's hawk too. And after, the cake in the tea shop was superb. Top marks.

This bird of prey centre has a very knowledgable and entertaining bird handler carrying out a two hour flying demonstration each day between 1400 and 1600 hours flying peregrine falcons and Harris hawks. Make sure you attend and are seated by the 2 o'clock start. The final hawk that is displayed is a gentle bird and members of the audience are invited to don a leather gauntlet glove for the bird on it's return flight to land on said glove. A fantastic afternoon out for both adults and children. There is a tea shoppe on site which although we didn't have time to sample the cakes, they did indeed look mouth watering.

When we have guests a superb way to spend an afternoon is to travel from our home in Ambleside up the shores of Ullswater to this little Gem of a place. Scenery guaranteed whatever the route.
On arrival greeted by pleasant helpfull staff and the refreshments are tip top, (home made cakes and a real size tea pot full of your favourite) Costa, Starbucks?... EAT YOUR HEARTS OUT.
Over the last couple of years I have taken many folks here as its a real good value for money place, interesting, affordable and exiting.
Will most certainly be returning and fully recommended to anyone, especially families.

Kindest regards to all concerned, you have a gem of a place.

This place is ideal for children and adults alike. I visited with my Father, as his Father's Day present and we both thoroughly enjoyed it.

The chap doing the display was very informative and his jokes made us both chuckle! It was lovely how the children were allowed to get involved and have a go at flying the bird etc.

Advice: take a picnic and some children's activities (football etc)and make a day of it!
