Although our rating is average, it could have easily been excellent. There were a lot of good things we liked about our stay. The farm is in an excellent secluded location, with great views, and a pub in walking distance. It is an easy 10 minute drive to beautiful Keswick with lots of stuff to do. It is a family run farm with animals. The campsite facilities were good. We stayed in the Gypsy Wagon which we loved, and received a tasty complimentary breakfast roll in the morning. Their children were helping out to serve the breakfast rolls and were very friendly and doing an excellent job. Not all the staff were that friendly, and one came across a bit rude, but on the whole they were able to help. On arrival the Gypsy Wagon was dirty and needed a clean, which was an unfortunate first impression, because it was so charming, and we enjoyed the night. There’s a picnic table outside and a fire pit. However, the biggest downside is that the Wagon is placed in an awkward spot, right next to a gate which was quite busy with people and cars. We cancelled our second night because on our return from a day out, a large party of campers had pitched up right in front of the wagon in an otherwise empty field, turning our picnic area into a car park, with people coming and going, leaving no privacy in the Wagon. The Wagon would benefit from being relocated to somewhere more private (as are the Camping Pods), that would better suit its intimate appeal. However, it is still a nice place to stay, and would recommend it as the Gypsy Wagon is a fun and novel experience. If the Wagon was relocated, it could be an excellent place to take a break.
