Stayed over to break up the trip from visit to Scotland and was so pleased I changed it from originally planning to stay in Carlisle. Room at the top was ours and so spacious with huge bathroom. Quirky beams in roof and felt totally chilled out in there and quite happy to stay put! Meal was good value and tasty and the service is good and breakfast great and just basic stuff to please all. Because the Hotel has only few rooms ( in main building) it was nice to feel more home comfort than large hotel with no character. Views are fantastic and gardens are beautiful to sit and have glass of wine or just a coffee. Quiet surroundings, no main roads or noisy streets so slept like log!

I have stayed here numerous times and I cannot fault anything about this hotel the staff are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are spotless and have very traditional to ultra modern rooms. Its a few minute drive into Penrith or eat in the bar the menu is limited but sufficient for a two night stay. cant fault anything about this hotel at all if you want to get away from the larger chain hotels.

A jewel in the North West! Excellent value, stylish, spotless and with staff who really care about their guests. Spacious rooms, modern styling in a stunning setting. Evening menu was great and very tasty, breakfast had good choice and fresh local produce. All staff really worked to make the stay enjoyable. Will stay again when in the area, and very highly recommended.

Room Tip: Family room was well equipped and good size.

We booked this hotel to spend a night on our own after doing the coast to coast cycle ride with some friends. We arrived in full cycling kit, having cycled the last leg of the ride and then travelled back to Penrith in a minibus, so we were not pretty. We were warmly welcomed and shown up to our very unusual, in a good way, and very relaxing room. A cup of tea and a power shower refreshed us in time for a very nice meal in a very relaxing room, with a lovely view.
We took a look round the hotel after our meal and found a room at the back, with comfy sofas and chairs with nice footstools, where we could have easily curled up and spent many secluded hours with some good books.
We woke this morning to the sound of nothing at all and made our way down for breakfast. To my husband's delight there was even fresh local honey on offer.
Great place, great service and fantastic location. We WILL be back.

Room Tip: We had room 8, which may not suit some as it is up a few flights of narrow stairs and it is not a st...

Stayed here overnight and it was really lovely. The house looks very grand as you approach it, as we did in the early evening sun. Our room, no.7, at the front looks out over the valley, the view was stunning. The room was well appointed, clean and comfortable. All staff, without exception were professional and welcoming. We sat outside for a drink and enjoyed a chat with other guests. Being outside Penrith, it was good to find the food in the evening offered a good choice and was well cooked and presented, as this saved driving off to find anywhere else to eat. After a comfortable night's sleep, breakfast was served in a small room, with plenty choice and all hot food freshly prepared, which does make a welcome change. Understandably, this is a popular local wedding venue, and there are obvious nods towards this part of the business, but on a Sunday evening it was a delightful place to be and one to which it would be lovely to return.

Admittedly it was during the glorious spell of summer weather, but the views across the valley are awesome. My visit was only for one night, so I didn't get a good look around, but the room was a great size and good value, and the breakfast excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. I am looking to go again for a weekend with family and friends.

Booked two nights, first impressions what a great looking hotel in a fabulous setting , the views are delightful, we had a small issue on arrival which was resolved swiftly and professionally and thanks to the receptionist on duty for the manner in which she dealt with it. The breakfast was excellent, lots of choice, the cooked option was exceptionally good as was the polite service each morning. We also ate in the bar restaurant on our last evening and once again couldn't fault the food, it was so good, especially the home-cooked fish goujons, the best we have ever eaten. We will definitely be returning very soon.

Room Tip: Room 7 a really nice room at the front of the hotel with stunning views, the en-suite was a tad smal...
