I went to larch cottage this morning with my mum and we visited the coffee shop. We ordered two coffees and asked for some sweetner as my mum cannot eat sugar. The waitress spent around 10 minutes looking for sweetners and came back, interupting my mum on the phone to explain that they could not find any sweetners. I then asked if she could have an earl grey tea instead, the waitress then spent another 10 minutes away from the table and came back with a container of sweetners that she had 'found in the office'. The sweetners were filthy and did not dispense any sweetners. As we had now waited around 20 minutes we decided to leave and ask for a refund. The manager came to deal with us and did not apologise and actually refunded us the incorrect amount for the coffee we were unable to drink. We explained that the sweetners were filthy and the manager said 'that's because they were from the office'. I felt that this experience was unacceptable. It is clear that the staff need better training in customer complaints, numeracy, cleanliness and time management. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and I will not be returning.
