“Good Value”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

Good Parking, Clean room, good shower, very good service and value for money, we stayed for 2 nights on our way to Scotland, close proximity to town center and the lakes, little chef next door, and a nice little fish and chip shop down one of the back streets in Penrith.

Room Tip: Good nights sleep here, town center 5 minute drive,

As Travelodges go, this is one of the better ones. The room was spacious and spotless, if a little spartan! The bed was really comfortable. As usual, basic, no frills accommodation - soap dispenser, no complimentary toiletries, plastc cups in bathroom, etc - but good tea and coffee in room, and a flat screen TV. Wifi is free for half an hour only. Parking is free. There is a Burger King and Little Chef adjacent, but we didn't use them. Tried the box "breakfast" that they sell you for £4.95, but would reccommend that you buy some Oj, croissants, muffins or pastries yourself - it would be both cheaper and better!
At the end of te day, you get what you pay for. If you are looking for a clean place, with a comfy bed, and at a budget price, then this is for you.

Stayed here on the way south halfway through the journey.
Convenient location and dog friendly although very expensive for the dog at £20!!
With people coming and going ALL night, I had a rubbish nights sleep, but the rooms was clean and the bed comfortable.
Disappointed that the wifi was not free....very rare these days to have to pay for this service.

No one at reception on our arrival...had to wait a good 10 minutes before being dealt with.
Room had smelly feet/ wet dog odour as soon as we opened the door and bathroom smelt musty. Cup ring stained desk and stained carpet too. Immediately brought it to the attention of staff member, only to be told that he couldn't smell anything,
(he must have had a bad
cold!), carpet stain was bleach. Was told he would sort out an e voucher to compensate but a week later I still haven't received
anything (a sweetener tactic to shut me up I think!)!! Paid £148 for two nights room only....far from budget! Have put complaint in to Travel Lodge, have had no response yet. Not impressed at all. Will try my best to avoid using this company again.

Miles cheaper than more mainstream Lake District options and convenient if passing by on the M6. Little Chef / Burger King outside and hotel in good repair and staff friendly. No frills, but good option for those on a budget.

We had two stays in this Travelodge as a family on the way up and back from a holiday in the Highlands. The rooms were clean and ready for us with the usual lack of creature comforts of this budget hotel. However to forget to fill the shower gel dispenser was a new one on me. However once again the staff are inadequatley trained which is a feature of Travelodge. Two examples: on the way up the staff member did not know how to resolve wifi purchase issues and was obviusly not trained properly and on the way back the Little Chef which is opposite's alarm went off and there was no understanding of what to do, no numbers to contact, I had to insist they call the Police - very poor staff once again!

Room Tip: Away from Little Chef!

I stayed here driving up the country to Glasgow. It was a convenient location for an overnight stop on this journey. A room for one cost me £47 and the area looks like it's made up of rooms like this and other areas where bigger groups can stay. There wasn't a huge amount of parking out the front of the hotel, but I managed to keep an eye out and parked in front of my window when someone else left.
If there's one negative point, there was a Little Chef across the road which had a generator or some kind of motor on that was producing a lot of noise. When they closed and turned it off, it was a lot quieter.
The room was clean and was good for a quick overnight stay.
The staff were polite and efficient when checking me in.
