We visited South Cottage as a small family and loved it! The cottage is really cosy and cute and had everything we needed for our stay. It was very clean, warm and inviting. We visited Ullswater, Keswick and Windermere during our stay, but also enjoyed walks up on the fells surrounding the village. Amazing views, loved it. Hope to stay again soon, thank you, Chloe!
Myself and my husband have just had a lovely stay at South Cottage and our first visit to Orton. We were lucky the Farmers Market was there on the day we arrived as we stocked up the fridge full of local products but the Village Shop was also well visited! The cottage had everything we could ask for and was immaculately clean. Thank you so much Chloe for your directions and advice on the area. Hope to be back when the weather warms up!! Sue
We had a lovely stay at South Cottage. It was very cosy, with everything you needed, close to all of the picturesque lakes, what a great holiday, we want to return. The fire was amazing, kept us very warm
This cosy cottage is an ideal self catering base. The small kitchen is well equipped (albeit the fridge/freezer is in the cupboard under the stairs off the lounge, a minor inconvenience). The lounge/dining area has a comfy sofa and easy chairs, plus a dining table and chairs. There is digital tv, with dvd, and a cd/radio player, plus good wifi, and there are plenty of dvds, board games and books for evenings in. The real coal/log fire is a bonus, we lit it only once as we had good weather, but it was lovely. There are also storage heaters, and additional radiators. The small dble bedroom is quite tight, but the bed was very comfy. The single bedroom we used as a dressing room, but is perfect for a 3rd adult or child. The bathroom has a large bath with electric shower over, a sink and toilet. Hot water is limited, but can be managed if you follow instructions. The whole place was clean and tidy. The location in this historical village with several notable buildings is great, plus it's reasonably close to the M6 and other roads, making it a good touring base. There are walks directly from the village so you can leave the car and just go. The George Hotel serves excellent food with gluten free options, and the staff were friendly and helpful and service was good. The Post Office/shop is well stocked and reasonably priced, and again staff are friendly. The Chocolate Factory is too good!! We can recommend this lovely cottage, and we will be returning.

Would rate this cottage as really great as it is in lovely village,as others have said very homely and relaxing,ok the kitchen is a bit small but has all you need[lovely view from window].
This was our first visit to this area and we found it STUNNING ,i was a bit unsure where i would get petrol from but a lovely drive to a Morrisons in Kendall sorted that.
This is a holiday rental i fully recommend to any body visiting this area as a base.
