“Great Cottage at a great location”
Reviewed 30 December 2017 for a stay in December 2017

A lovely house with all you need for a great holiday! Location is perfect for hiking and cycling in the Lake District. Don't forget to pay a visit to the Dog & Gun pub next door, they serve great food for a fair price.

“Short weekend break in Coach House Cottage”
Reviewed 3 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

We have just had a wonderful weekend break at Coach House Cottage.
The cottage is lovely - clean, cosy and well equipped with everything you need.
The cottage is in a lovely location in a peaceful, very pretty village which is only a short drive to the Lake District and the town of Penrith.
I would suggest to anyone thinking of booking to ignore the Trip Advisor reviews for the pub next door - The Dog and Gun. We were going to avoid it altogether as the reviews were quite unfavorable but I'm glad we did pop in as it was lovely and very welcoming.
We would definitely recommend the whole experience... we were just sad it was over too quickly!

Hello, many thanks for your review. Delighted that you enjoyed your stay..
The Dog and Gun has just re opened, the new owners are lovely and the food is going to make me need bigger jeans! Please could you review them on Trip Advisor? We need our village pub to survive. Nx

“Lovely cottage”
Reviewed 24 March 2017 for a stay in March 2017

We stayed here for two nights. This cottage was perfect. Extremely clean, very modern but with a traditional look. Everything we needed was there. Lovely comfortable bed and very powerful shower and most of all, the cottage was warm which was needed as the weather was freezing! Short drive from Penrith and Keswick which is a beautiful place! Nicky the owner was very pleasant and helpful, we would love to return in summer!

“Fantastic base for nearby Lakeland walks”
Reviewed 3 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

My wife and I spent three nights in the cottage over New Year. As our reviewers have remarked it is in immaculate condition and has all the facilities/amenities you could need. It was clear that Nicky and Tony have a real attention to detail and we felt at home instantly and we were loathe to head back south after a few excellent days.

While not in the National Park itself, we were a short drive (c 20 mins) from the starting spots for walks in the Northern and Eastern Fells and the surrounding countryside around Skelton provides beautiful scenery in its own right. We would thoroughly recommend it and hope to return in the near future.

“Genuine home away from home”
Reviewed 30 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We stayed for a week in late August and the cottage is perfectly located as a base to explore from. Short drives to the Lakes, Hadrians Wall, Carlisle and Penrith (for food shopping). Located close to the C2C cycle route (with national routes 7 and 71 close by).

It is a immaculately presented and spotless holiday cottage with all the possible amenities that you could need which represented extremely good value for the price I paid. The cottage is a perfect combination of contempary and traditional. Full fitted kitchen, with dishwasher. Utility/washroom with washing machine. Shower room and bath. Comfortable and light lounge with TV, DVD and Netflix (for those wet evenings). Fast WiFi throughout the cottage.

Nicky is a perfect host. She greeted us on arrival to explain the cottage and facilities as well as provide some local information and suggestions of walks. Nicky provided us with a welcome pack of a bottle of wine, snacks, milk, tea, coffee and ginger biscuits. There is also the "brown basket" full of tourist leaflets, walks and other information.

The Dog and Gun pub is next door - we didn't eat there but had a very friendly welcome and enjoyed a pint or two sat outside soaking up the last of the evening sunshine watching the Swallows, House Martins and Jackdaws battle it out for air supremacy !

Nicky took the time to explain some walks for us including the Ullswater Steamer walks which are stunning. Pooley Bridge is a short drive away. Plenty of parking in the field just past/behind the Sun Inn for £3 all day (look for the hand written signs by the roadside), catch the "steamer" to Howtown and walk back. The walk is featured in a print out in the brown basket.

We will very much look forward to retuning sometime soon.

“Beautiful, comfy and perfect”
Reviewed 16 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

A lovely 3 night stay in this beautiful cottage in the little village of Skelton just outside of Penrith.

A surprise booking for my other half for his birthday - a great little find for a relaxing break! The cottage is beautiful - furnished and decorated to a high standard, but in keeping with the cottage's rustic look. Clean and tidy - couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay.

The cottage is well equipped with a full kitchen, TV, lovely bathroom and even a washing machine! There are board games and books if you don't fancy the TV. The bed is probably the most comfy I have ever stayed in (aside from my own bed at home!).

The village is really quiet - but not too far away from Carlise, Penrith and Keswick if you want to get back to the hustle and bustle of people. It's a 15 minute drive from the Center Parks if you fancy treating yourself to a Spa day there (we did - very nice!). The pub in the village (which is literally 100 yards from the cottage!) is really nice too - good food and nice people.

Nicky the owner made us feel very welcome (tea, coffee milk and even some ginger snaps waiting for us!). Lovely lady with a lovely property.

Would definitely come back and stay here again.
