Glendale Guest House

Reviewed 31 August 2012

Many thanks Moira and Allan for a lovely stay. The Guest house was clean and quiet and only 5 mins walk from the centre of Penrith. We stayed in Room 6 which overlooks a quiet street and a small park where you could walk a dog. The room had a double and single bed, TV, tea and coffee, biscuits. The room also had a an ensuite toilet sink and shower.

This was our first visit to Penrith although we have passed by loads of times. The town centre has numerous pubs, restuarents (Indian, Italians, tapas, mexican, chinese). We went out to the George Hotel for an evening meal which was excellent. The cinema in Penrith was also only 5 mins walk if you have a couple of hours to kill.

In the morning we both had a cooked breakfast which was excellent. There was also a choice of fruit, yoghurts and cereals.

Much better and cheaper than staying in a services motel on the M6

Look forward to stopping again in the future.

Thank you

Andrew and Jacqui

Stayed here with four others on business for four nights in June. Room 3 contains a four poster with a good sized ensuite. Rooms are very clean with tea making facilities, tastefully decorated, free wifi connection, tv and dvd combi with a good selection of dvds available. Very nice owners Moirai and Alan couldn't do enough to take care of us. The cooked breakfasts each day were exceptional with real Cumberland sausage, freshly squeezed orange juice and fresh fruit and/or yoghurt. Ideally located in the centre of town just a short walking distance from the main street, train station and supermarkets. I would easily recommend to anyone visiting the area, great service!

Room Tip: Room 3 for the four poster experience with the bay window overlooking the park opposite!

Wanted to write a review to let others who travel with kids know that this B&B is great. We booked a family room and had a cot provided. Wasn't the most comfy of mattresses but was still absolutely fine. Moirai and Allan are really nice and helpful and were happy for me to leave the pushchair in their hall. We had a high chair provided at breakfast - quite an old fashioned one but it proves that they were built to last back then! Delicious breakfast - fresh fruit, cereal and toast as well as full English cooked each day by Moira.
Would really recommend this as a central place for Penrith and surrounding area.

Stayed for 1 night whilst visiting relatives, a lovely homely place to stay, a very comfy bedroom. Plentiful toiletries and drink tray. Breakfast was excellent, and the choice was very good no wonder they have a breakfast award. Will definately stay again.

We spent 2 nights at Glendale mid-November. We have a young daughter and wanted somewhere that would be family friendly, and Moira and Allan certainly were. We had a good sized family room + they provided cot + highchair which was really helpful. Room was absolutely fine for us and we enjoyed using the DV library. Breakfast was excellent :-)

Really hope we get the chance to go back to Penrith soon.

Room Tip: Family room is available - we asked in advance for a cot and high chair.

I stayed hear on the second night of a "Coast to Coast" cycle ride, I had advised that I had a disability, so imagine my supprise when I got there they had put the heating on for me. "We thought you would be cold" how very thoughtful. The room was excellent clean and warm!, Attention to detail was fantastic, the new en-suite was superb the toilet even had a seal on it after been cleaned. The breakfast was super also and with a single room keenly priced at £35pp a bargain to boot. Gastro pub at the end of the road made for a very pleasent stay. I will deffinatley stay there again.
