Reviewed 28 May 2013

Rydal Hall is owned by the Diocese of Carlisle and as such is mainly used by Christian groups, but it is open to others (I was there with a yoga group). It's a beautiful place.....extensive gardens which are open to the public, the Hall itself, a youth centre, yurts and camping.
The rooms are comfortable with spotless ensuites and fabulous views over the gardens.
The food was the real star though....genuine 'home cooked' style, plentiful and delicious. The breakfasts had a wide choice, and a proper roast dinner is served on Sunday lunchtimes.
There is a small bar, but we took our own wine as we weren't sure what would be available.
It is a short walk to the Badger pub, and just off the Coffin Trail to Grasmere and a lovely circular walk around Rydal Water.
