Stayed one night to attend a wedding in the lakes. Greeted by the owners who were very friendly, checked us in and showed us to our room. Nice room with an ensuite, very comfy bed! Very close to the local shops and cafes and managed a short wander around before we went to our wedding. Very good location. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. It was served by a couple of girls who were chatty and attentive. Good big breakfast was just what we needed and even got another round of toast. Will be returning to spend a little bit longer in the area hopefully.

Room Tip: Room 3 was lovely and big with an ensuite

A strange welcome from the hosts, we were very tired from a long journey and many of the sarcastic comments were lost on us.

There are many rooms without en-suite although they are allocated a shower room for just their room and is generally opposite the room, we were thankful to have been given an en-suite room. The room was lovely, although small but we were only staying for one night so this wasn't much of an issue. Shower was a let down, not at all powerful! Cramped built in shower space which although there were shelves to put products on they could not hold any weight and would just fall off. However, a built in shower wash pump was in the shower, but i prefer my own things. Bed was comfy, had a lovely nights sleep!

We stayed in October and were looking forward to a lovely warm room, we didn't think it would be like a sauna! Strange to have heating on full when the windows were open, poor environment!! Turned heating off as soon as we got there but rest of b and b was still too hot!

The breakfast was lovely, great attentive staff however, i wasn't informed what was on the breakfast was just asked if i was ready for it... the only negative was the tables being allocated by room number. I was staying with my boyfriend and we were put on a table of four.. another room turned up and was seated next to us, we found this very awkward and odd, not what i expected or wanted! It did feel a bit of a rush with only a half hour gap (8.30 til 9) for breakfast, it was Sunday morning and we would of preferred a lie in.

Check in isn't until 4pm which is rather late, and check out is 10am! Although we never realised this and were not told to leave early or charged extra when we checked out at midday so unsure how strict this is.

The b and b is in a good location for the lake and there are many restaurants and a few bars nearby. We knew we had to pay for parking however, the times you can pay for are bizarre, there was no 24 hour stay so we ended up paying for 3 days when only staying 18 ish hours! However i don't think this is anything to do with the b and b as it is a public car park.

Overall, an good stay, let down by table share at breakfast and heat of b and b (we were told that the landlady had a bad review about the place being too cold so is now paranoid of this, which is why it is so hot...)

Room Tip: We stayed in room 5, it overlooks peoples roofs and back gardens however we did have en-suite and ma...

Stayed one night here for a weekend in the Lake District. Green Gables Guesthouse is in an excellent location in Windermere. Only a 5 minute walk from the train station and conveniently located for the local bars, pubs, restaurants and shops. We were greeted by the very friendly owners on arrival, showed around and told what time breakfast would be the next morning. The room was very clean and really nicely presented. It included lots of lovely things to make you feel at home like tea, coffee, hot choc and little biscuits. Plus nice big fluffy towels and a lovely smelling hand soap. Also there are plenty of TV channels and free WIFI for when you return to your room in the evening. We had a sound nights sleep in this quiet area, especially with the mattress being so thick and comfy! The next morning we went down for breakfast to be greeted by the lovely Gillian. She was so funny and really made us feel at ease. The breakfast was yummy and set us up for the day. It included a freshly cooked full English and also toast with butter/jam/marmalade. You could also help yourself to cereals and tea/coffee/juice. We had a good laugh with the staff before we left and I wish we could of stayed another night. All in all a really pleasant stay at Green Gables and I would highly recommend this lovely, friendly guesthouse :)

We have just returned from the Lake District after our first visit to the area. We chose Green Gables because of it's good value and favourable reviews, it certainly didn't disappoint. Carole, Alex and Gilly were very friendly and welcoming. The breakfasts were cooked to order and were delicious. Our room on the first floor was very comfortable, as was my Mum's single room on the ground floor. A big thank you to you all for our lovely five night stay.

I stayed here for just one night during a 2 day getaway to the Lake District. The staff were very friendly and the rooms were clean, very comfy and cozy. I really enjoyed the enormous breakfast you get and enjoyed talking with the staff before I left for home on the second day.

The guesthouse is within walking distance to some very nice restaurants and offers lots of TV channels and free WIFI.

Thoroughly enjoyed my very brief visit here and would highly recommend to anyone.

Lovely place to stay if you are in Windemere. It was cute, quaint, and absolutely perfect location for what we wanted to do. About 10-15 minute walk from the railway station and 1.5 (20-30) minute walk from the lake (Bowness). We had come off the Brit Movie tours about Beatrix Potter and adored the walk into town for dinner. They were very accommodating with our early departure and let us have a bit of cereal, toast, and coffee. I have to rave about the muesli combination they had :)

Our room had its own sink and telly. Everything was clean and crisp and quite homey. Just darling and highly recommended.
