We arrived on Friday for a stay at Ruskin lodge for a special occasion, and it did not disappoint! The whole lodge was so modern, clean and warm and welcoming it completely exceeded all of our expectations! They have literally thought of everything! The location was also perfect, not even fifteen minutes from all of the attractions of Bowness and Windermere but on a lovely quiet park with beautiful views. Dealing with Jo was so easy, always quick to respond and very helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this place. We only wish we could have stayed longer but we will definitely be back.
I love this lodge, this was our second visit to Ruskin Lodge it is beautiful.I would recommend it to everyone. Very high standard throughout. Will be visiting again.
Myself, other half, manic toddler & our 14 week old baby visited the lodge in Feb/Mar 2018 for three nights midweek. We arrived just before “The Beast from the East” snow storm made his entrance. The lodge was totally perfect - comfortable, warm, light and exquisite toddler friendly! The enclosed deck is brilliant too as you can turf little ones outside and not have to worry. The huge dump of gorgeous snow only added to trip, we were all in our element. Sledge in hand we were touring the site and visited the play ground on numerous occasions.
Due to the adverse weather conditions, the temperature overnight reached -15•C at one point, which froze the water supply to all the lodges on site. After contacting Jo & Jane in the early morning, who responded almost immediately, site maintenance were on the case defrosting the water feeds into the individual lodges and we had water restored before nightfall. Luckily the heating and hot water are in a separate supply, so we were nice and toasty! I cannot fault Jo & Jane at all. They were brilliant, totally committed to getting a solution - which to be fair was totally out of their hands and down to the crazy weather.
We will most definitely be staying again. We all had a fabulous time, especially the wee man who was in his total element with the snow!
Thanks Jo & Jane for being such caring hosts.
Could not find any fault with Ruskin Lodge. Great location on an immaculate site. Would be nice if shop on site had a slightly better selection. There is a pub on site, although we did not eat there, the menu looked very good. The lodge as I said was perfect, we even had the welcome addition of prosecco, fudge and fluffy bath robes.
Ruskin Lodge is a wonderful find.
The accommodation is extremely spacious, very comfortable, furnished to a high standard & immaculately presented. The views from the Lodge are a delight. The location is ideally situated for exploring the Lake District & is just a short drive to Ambleside & Windermere. There is a wonderful walk from the Lodge to Ambleside, with spectacular views over Lake Windermere. On the way there is a lovely little tea room called the Old Post Office which we recommend to stop at.
We very much look forward to visiting Ruskin Lodge again & thank the owners, Jane & Jo, for their friendly & professional manner throughout our booking.
Ruskin Lodge surpassed all our expectations; the quality of the accommodation was superb; all the extras made our stay special and the bottle of prosecco and the fudge was a welcoming touch.
The location of the lodge is ideally set to reach all the amenities in the region.
If it was possible we would give the lodge and its owners care a score of 11 out 10.
Many thanks Jane and Jo for such a wonderful holiday. :)
Amazing cabin with everything you could need and more. Perfect location close to two of the biggest lakes but outside of the hustle and bustle.
