The only thing I could fault about the hotel was the temperature. Our room was so hot all the time, despite turning off the radiator, and eventually when we found it, the heated towel rail! Really wanted to throw the windows open wide, but there were "Health and Safety" stops on them so that we could only open them a fraction. As it isn't a hotel which is likely to have small children staying, I do think we should be trusted not to jump, or fall out! Other than that, a wonderful break in a hotel which is both elegant and cosy. Food lovely and staff/service excellent. We really felt that we were somewhere special and found it very relaxing.

Lovely room (apart from cracked tiles and shoddy sealant in the bathroom and unimaginative freebies, but I am uber fussy) but with a view over the carpark. We asked to be moved as one of the reasons for coming to this area was the view and we were shown another room which had a nice view, but the room was not up to my exacting standards, so we returned to the first one and compromised on the view, only to discover that the family from hell were in the next room - screaming kids and incessant knocking on the doors. What happened to parental control and consideration of others? Disappointed by the food which didn't quite match it's write up on the menu (dinner menu). The seasoning let it down, it lacked flair and the portions were tiny. Breakfast was OK, especially liked the toasted granola but the cooked breakfast was a little spartan. Service is a big issue at this hotel. Borderline surly, scruffy appearance and a lack of knowledge about the food they are serving. Items missing from the table, or serving areas. Slow at clearing away glasses in the lounge area and empty tables in the dining room which made the place look more like a service station cafe than a star rated hotel. It's this sort of attention to detail that will hold this hotel back from greatness, but perhaps they have found their niche in a competitive market?

We eat at the hotel for two nights and and food and service was absolutely fantastic. You are given the menu in the lounge area and served canapes whilst you wait. In total you are given 5 courses.

Lindeth Howe has been one of my favourite venues for a lunchtime jaunt with friends for the past few years. The unhurried, leisurely but chilled out ambience of relaxing with an aperitif on the super comfy sofas prior to tasty locally sourced dishes is a winner. The dining room having recently undergone a complete refurbishment looks a treat and a window table looking out over the surrounding gardens and Lakeland hills even in winter is stunning. Friend had soup of the day and I sampled the grilled warm goats cheese, followed by braised beef shoulder [ very tasty]. A dessert of sticky toffee pudding for Marty beckoned whilst I enjoyed a rhubarb parfait with honeycomb crumble and coulis. To finish off our delicious lunch we lounged for an hour or more in one of the sitting rooms with a pot of coffee and home made truffles. By this time there were numerous other guests enjoying champagne afternnon teas.
Super service..Staff always friendly and keen to please! Value for money!

From being welcomed at the door to retrieving our coats our experience last Sunday lunch time was most pleasant.
Sitting on the comfortable sofas' by the fire for drinks and choosing what to eat was most relaxing. All four of us really enjoyed our meals.
We thought Lindeth How deserved to have more folk enjoying the food and ambiance.
I am sure we will return next time we are in the Lakes.
