Beautiful dining room with gorgeous view of the surrounding gardens. Staff ensure you feel relaxed in the hotels sedate and comfortable lounges, before and after dining. Have taken friends and relatives here for lunch on several occasions + afternoon tea and never been dissappointed yet! Very leisurely! Exquisititely executed food and impeccable service. Family owned hotel for many years with friendly service. 2 courses ample, unless you have a voracious appetite!
Good value lunches throughout the year.

For many years my partner and I have visited this hotel at valentines. It is lovley and worth every penny. There is something so romantic about dressing for dinner and dinning in such a beautiful place. The pool is lovley and for an early swim is great when it is quiet. The staff have always been helpful. It is an excellent base to go walking from and the walk over to Windemere on the ferry is long but nice to go for lunch (we actually got a taxi back to the ferry)
As a couples retreat for a special weekend you could not find better.

My husband took me to the Lindeth Howe for lunch on my birthday. We loved it! The food was fantastic, as a keen home cook we are so often disapointed when we eat out by the quality of the food. My husband had pork cheeks to start which were divine, melt in the mouth tender and really full of flavour. My main course of chicken tasted just like chicken used to but often doesn't anymore. The deserts were fab too, the sticky toffee pudding being the best I have ever tasted.
I had read a reveiw before we went which was critical of the service. Our experience was very different. Yes, a large proportion of the staff have English as their second language but this was no barrier to friendly, polite and efficient service. The waiter was excellent and a senior staff member came and wished me happy birthday which was a nice touch

Went to this hotel for lunch as was listed by The Times "Autumn Dining" . Considered that it would be of a good quality or surely The Times Newspaper would not want the association.
How wrong was I to think this!
The bread rolls which were brought to us as we were finishing our first course were not fresh and would certainly not have been baked the same day or probably the day before. The main course was turkey which one would think it was near impossible to do much wrong with this but yes they could indeed manage to get it wrong. The white meat did not resemble breast as wehave seen it before! Both the dark and white meat of the turkey was dry and tough. Although we enjoy "al dente" vegetables these sprouts and carrots seemed as though they had barely spent any time in a saucepan or possibly micowave!!! Christmas pudding was served with a scoop of ice-cream, which had toppled off each of the puddings, by a waiter who apologised about the presentation. The pudding was burning hot as though it had been overheated in a micowave and was tasteless. The icecream which was equally tasteless was frozen to such a degree that there were bits of ice in it.
It was clear to the waiter, from what was left on our plates after each course ,that we could not possibly be enjoying the meal but after each course he did ask us if we enjoyed it. We are both wise enough not to upset the chef, who is yet to send us our next course , so did not make any adverse comments about the meal until it was over.
On paying the bill I was asked once again and this time told him that we had thoroughly enjoyed the St Emillion wine but that the meal was disappointing.
Unbelieveably he seemed surprised ! We paid and left without the coffee NEVER to return again. ADVICE: Don't waste your time or money in this establishment where they have no idea that the quality is so poor. A sign might be that there was only one other table taken in the dining room. Diners vote with their feet! We certainly will do likewise.
