We have enjoyed many visits here and this has been another memorable one. From the moment we arrived, the friendly welcome once again set the mood for the delights that followed. From the excellent food served in the Michelin star restaurant to the relaxing treatments enjoyed in the spar. The staff including room housekeeping staff seemingly anticipated our every need. Already looking forward to our next visit.

We read the review in The Times and booked ourselves into The Lodge for an evening.

The lodge rooms overlook Lake Windermere and the mountains behind which was a sheer joy when opening the curtains in the morning.

The restaurant offers a Michelin star restaurant.

We had a wonderful wedding in February at Holbeck with just our immediate family (15 of us). From the moment we chose the hotel to the day we left after the wedding they couldn't have been more helpful - a special thanks to James for going the extra mile, we hope to see you there when we visit next. They were flexible with the menu choices, rooms for the wedding and even let us have the library all to ourselves after the ceremony. It was my husbands birthday the next morning and they baked him a birthday cake - just perfect! We love the hotel, the food, the wine and the people and plan to go back very soon!

We have just returned from a stay at Holbeck Ghyll Country House, first I must say the location is lovely with fantastic views. The staff were very attentive.
We spent two nights in the lake district.
We chose this hotel because we were looking for something very special because it was our first weekend away without the kids for years.
Our room was in the lodge £390 PER NIGHT. I think that this price was all for the view. We had two single beds that had been put together and you fell down the middle of them.
Cheap coffee in the room like travel lodge.
The room was nothing special. Apart from the view.
The food was quiet nice. Michelin Star rated. Posh portions and very well presented but needed a sandwich later in the evening.
£10 for a pimms.

The previous night we had stayed at the Waterhead Hotel in Ambleside. It was half the price and fantastic! A very large room with king bed. Complmentary fruit, water, gingerbread and cafetiere with real ground coffee. Contemporary style. Fab bathroom and lovely food. We wished that we had stayed two nights there.
We just think that it's a very overpriced place to stay and came away feeling disappointed becaused we felt cheated that the cheaper hotel was better.

Dear EnglandCastle,

Thank you for your comments. I am happy to confirm that we are revisiting our coffee and tea offering so that we are able to upgrade the bedroom facilities; when this has been done I am certain you would appreciate the changes that we have made. I am very sorry that the Zip-link beds were not joined in the middle; I have spoken at length with my housekeeper and she joins me in sending our apologies. As I mentioned in my reply to your personal email that you also sent, should you wish to return soon to experience the improvements that we are putting in place, please contact me directly I would gladly assist in making your booking.

With all good wishes

Andrew

Just returned home from a 3 night stay and it was perfect, we stayed in the Miss Potter Suite, stunning views, superb food, lovely attentive staff and a bed to die for! Spa treatments were amazing. Total luxury and relaxation. One of our top 3 hotels ever! Felt sad to leave. Now trying to find an excuse to go back again!
