My husband said the crabmeat and prawn salad with pickled cucumber was one of the best starters he ever had. Prawns were lovely too. Both had sea bass for main and lovely. Tiny restaurant.... so book. Only wish they had proper coffee machine as espresso would have finished the night off perfectly.

In summary, the food, wine and level of service was very good. Considering that there was only the owner and his young lady assistant at front of house, everything flowed flawlessly. In talking to the owner about his reputation on Tripadvisor, I commented that he had a below average review strike rate (less than 3 rating points) of about 1% (put another way, 3 - 5 ratings accounted for 99% of reviews) which is staggering by any measure. He remarked that some of these poor reviews were from people who arrived late to dine and he HAD to refuse them entry to his restaurant, because a late arrival would upset the balance and quality of service to other diners (esp following diners). His kitchen could only cope with food preparation for blocks of 6 diners at any one time. The owner refused to compromise on this policy. Obviously, this part of his business model resulted in happy diners.
AS a post-script to this tale, one member of staff at our hotel explained how in the past, she had tried to book a ladies dinner evening for 8 of them, only to be declined because the restaurant could only accept groups of no more than 6.

When I spotted this restaurant on tripadvisor and saw the very positive reviews, I knew I just had to come here being the big seafood lover that I am!! We arrived half hour early to our reservation time however the owner was very accommodating and let us chill with a drink (superb wine!) and browse over the menu before he was ready to take our order as everything is very well timed so he can be attentive to all his diners. We started with the calamari and crab and prawns, the calamari was cooked to perfection with just a very light battter and lots of lemon and the crab and prawns were so fresh!! For the main we got hake and swordfish, both of which perfectly cooked and seasoned making it some of the most flavoursome fish I have ever tasted. finishing with some fresh strawberries and ice cream was perfect! Overall it was impeccable, the service was spot on and the atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxed. This is a restaurant committed to seafood which is my idea of heaven, but some people dont like it so much so when looking for somewhere to eat in the area leave the seafood haters at home!!

P.S. you must book to make sure you get a table!

We read about this restaurant owned and run by Michael and boy are we glad we booked, not to would have been a travesty, the food is to die for , the wine list is ace, Michael is a great people person and keeps a tight ship, attentive in a great way , there is no being rushed here , he spaces bookings and it makes you feel that the tables are yours for as long as you need, we had a lazy 2 hour 3 course meal , perfect quality fish , some of the best wherever we have been and we are fish fiends.
Don't miss out , make sure you book this gem of a restaurant - we would travel back for another visit for the evening and we live 1 hr 15 mins away - worth it

The best fish restaurant in England? Certainly the best I have been to. Although the menu is relatively small all the dishes are superbly cooked in a very traditional style. The front of house owner manages the service in a friendly and efficient manner. Well worth visiting but book well in advance.
