We stayed at Dalecoat Guest house for two nights for our Wedding Anniversary (20 & 21st May). We were met at the door with a smile and warm welcome, we were given a pass for parking outside the Guest house then we were shown to our room, Carol made sure the room was warm and comfortable (as we arrived around teatime and it was a bit cool), we spoke about excursions and places to visit around winderemere, what time breakfast was in the morning, Carol also asked if we liked full english breakfasts. When we came down for breakfast the following morning Carol greeted us with a smile and good morning and showed us to our table as she did with all the guests. She was very friendly and chatty with every-one and we all had a nice conversation over breakfast while Carol waited on us and made sure we had enough to eat and drink. We had a choice of fresh fruit, cereal, toast and of course a full english breakfast with tea & coffee and orange juice, it was lovely. The Guest house is close to all local ameneties (shops, restaurants, pubs, bus & train stations, walking distance to all). Excellent place to stay we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Deffinitly recommend to family and friends. :-)

This was my second visit to Dalecote Guest House. We were welcomed by Carol with the usual kind helpful advice regarding parking nearby. (she furnished us with a residents permit immediately) The room was clean and well presented as in the past visit, it was well equiped with up to date TV, and a modern on - suite bathroom, supplied with clean towels, soap & shower gel too! On going downstairs in the morning, we were welcomed with a nice breakfast room with fresh fruit & cereals, followed by an exceptional FULL ENGLISH BREAKFAST, well presented & delicious!. We will return here very soon (July 2011) . We were both very impressed and cant understand any negative comments leveled by previous guests.

After our recent visit to the lake District we stayed at the Dalecote, after a 4 hour journey we arrive to a most unwelcome reception, firstly me and my Husband went to the door to ensure we were at the right place while my mom and daughter stayed in the car- the ladys first statement was "thought there was four of you" i thought yes we have had a nice trip thank you, then to be given a pass for the car to park and told sharply DONT loose it there expensive which is fair enough but again the tone was not needed. When we eventually all got in there with my 9mth old daughter the lady didnt even acknowledge here just said does SHE sleep? i was flabagasted i dont know why we even carried on upstairs we should of just turned around and walked out and i wish we had. Then told where i could and couldnt put her nappies and must be in a bag which i always do and dont need to be told. At beckfast each morning there was a grunt of a "morning" but that was it there was no pleasanties, over the 4 days we were there she never once acknowlged my daughter made us completey feel on edge the whole stay, after our day out we didnt want to return to the B&B beacuse we just felt so un wanted it was that bad, we really belive she was completey Non child friendly and have no idea why she agreed to the booking knowing full well my daughter was coming, i think it was out of season and maybe needed the business, but by doing that completely ruined our week end away, to the point of instead of on the way home talking about the lovely thigns we did and saw in the lake district it was all about the rudeness and complete lack of the hospitallity at this B&B. Me and my husband have travelled all over the world but NEVER EVER felt as un welcome as we did here at the Dalecote. If you have children DONT go.....
