We called in to the Langdale Chase for a late lunch on a trip to the lakes and ended up staying the night it was so good.
On a cold day, thinking we had missd lunch, we noticed the Langedale sign saying they served food all day, so we drove in. We were lucky enough to be seated in the baronial hall in front of a roaring fire in splendid isolation - which was fantastic. As we had our dog with us we could have sat in the lounge, but asked if we could sit in the Hall, where the tables were higher for eating. Not only was this no problem, but we had a fantastic lunch with full waiter service, and stayed for several hours. We returned the next day to book in, and stayed in a wonderful large room with views over Windermere. All the staff are extremely well trained right across the board and genuinely nothing is too much trouble.
When we tried to tip some of the staff, the Maitre d' explained to us that this was a 'non tipping hotel'. They felt that their charges for food, rooms etc should reflect the high level of service that they would provide as standard. It was therefore so refreshing to find staff so willing to please - just for the pleasure of doing a good job.

A wonderful place for a relaxing stay with excellent food & service, good accommadation and warm ambience. Will be back.

What an amazing hotel. We booked at the last minute and were really glad we did.
The staff were very friendly and efficent without being over-bearing. The room was fantastic - and very clean (as noted by my wife!).
The food was superb. We had lunchtime snack in the Conservatory, Dinner & Breakfast in the restaurant - all were first class.
Log fires and quiet areas to read are what made this hotel special for us.
We had a lovely walk through the grounds and along the lake shore - even in the rain it was beautiful.
This isn't the cheapest out there - but worth every penny. As they say "you get what you pay for" and we were very happy with that.
We loved it that much we have booked to go back in November ( good deal made it more attractive).
A big 'pat on the back' for all at Langdale Chase.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 1 which is in their 'super deluxe' catergory. It is worth the extra as it...

I visited the Langdale Chase this January, and after my bad experience at another Hotel down the Lake,I arrived hoping I wouldn't encounter a similar experience. I had no need to be concerned,as our room was ideal, clean, large, and with terrific views. As this was the best room in the Hotel, I couldn't comment about the standard of the other rooms. We also dined at their restaurant and the food was very good. The staff were very friendly so all in all I would visit this Hotel again.

The setting and the building were fantastic overlooking Lake Windermere but the furniture was a bit dated in the room. The staff were lovely and the food was delicious and not overly priced.

Room Tip: Room 52 half lake and half ground view with jacuzzi bath

Here at the Langdale Chase we pride ourself on our location and high calibre members of our team. The food we serve, whether it be in the bar or the restaurant is all locally sourced and of the highest quality delivered by a dedicated team led by our Head Chef Daniel Hopkins.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion regarding whether the furniture is dated or not, the hotel is an old building and we like to keep the rooms very in-keeping with the decor, where as the Lake house is a modern building therefore a modern twist has been put onto these rooms.

Sharon And I would like to thank you all at the Langdale Chase for the
excellent service and hospitality that we received during our one night stay
on Valentines Day. It was our first visit and we are looking forward to our
next.
We stayed in the Lake House with its fantastic views of the lake and the snow capped mountains. A large room with balcony overlooking the lake, roll top bath and wet room shower. Everything was just perfect. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 86 in the Lake House which is seperate from the Hotel.

In response to Valentines Day 2012 I was delighted to read such a lovely review. The Lake House is only 3 year old and is fully equipped with modern facilities, top quality furniture and fittings and the most modern of bathrooms, definitely worth a visit and I am delighted to read such a lovely review with regards to the friendly service and hospitality received.

This hotel is a beautiful building set in a stunning part of Windermere. This rather remote mansion is the perfect environment for any couple or group to get away and enjoy a relaxing weekend in the picturesque gardens looking over Lake Windermere.

The grand entrance is a breathtaking entry to the stunning architecture of the property. With historic portraits, open fire and classic antiques, it is almost like staying in a castle. We booked a suite (room 27) and had a seperate living room and hallway with lots of space and looked out over the lake and gardens. There was a lot of snow which added to the tranquility of our stay.

Upon arrival we were surprised at this hotel was only 3*, but some of this could be due to not having a swimming pool and spa, however throughout the stay you got to realize why they may have lost some points. The room itself was quite dated, but my partner stayed in one of the modern rooms the night before in a building seperate from the main hotel and complimented the new fittings. Our room definitely needed a face lift, and the bathroom needed upgrading too; the walk in shower only allowed a small dribble of water, but apparently that was very different in the more modern rooms.

While the food in the restaurant was fantastic, if you didn't go for the set menu, you had to eat your dinner in the bar which other guests had commented was not very kind. We had gone for the set menu and i would definitely recommend the food. The service and staff were incredibly friendly and couldn't do enough for you.

The hotel is only a 2 mile walk over to ambleside and is easy to drive around too. We had a thoroughly good weekend and would stay again but will downgrade to a regular modern room next time until they upgrade the suites to more modern fittings.

Room Tip: Go for the modern rooms in the buildings seperate to the main hotel, they are much nicer. Dont bothe...
