“Stunning!”

This has to be one of the most beautiful locations in the world! The scenery is breathtaking. We had a lake view room, quite small but everything we needed, the home made cookies were a lovely touch and delicious. The room and balcony could do with a bit of tlc but didn't detract from our stay. We had dinner and breakfast and both were superb, the service was spot on, we can't wait to go back, for longer this time!

Wherever we went in this hotel we continued to be amazed by the views. From the bar, the garden, our room and the terrace, the fells looked amazing. But the view of the sunset from the dining room over the lake was not to be missed. Helpful staff made our stay with extended family party including my disabled brother in law very relaxing and there was no trouble when we returned a dish we thought wasn't up to their standard. The food was excellent and we will be returning.

I came here with my partner for a night away and the whole experience was just amazing! The hotel is in the perfect location overlooking the lake with stunning gardens and an amazing landscape. We had our evening meal in the hotel and the food was absolutely outstanding! The presentation was stunning and the taste was even better! We had pre-drinks in the room next door in front of a crackling fire and the whole atmosphere was just perfect! Possibly the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, I had such an amazing nights sleep! We had breakfast in the morning before checkout and the breakfast was lovely. There is a menu to order from and everything looked yummy! I would recommend this hotel 100%, it is absolutely amazing and the people here will go out of their way to look after you!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Rothwaite room and it had such an amazing view!

We spent 14 days in the UK in London, Clacton, Whitby, Edinburgh, Loch Ness & Windermere. This is the most expensive hotel we have stayed during our UK trip and I must say the price we have paid did not commensurate with the level of service. We stayed in the Lancanshire cottage for 3 nights. We had requested for an extra bath towel on Day 1 as there were 3 of us and there were only two bath towels provided. We were told it would be delivered to our room. When we returned after dinner, the extra towel was not delivered. I requested for it again on Day 2 during breakfast and the same lady staff told me she would have it sent through the housekeeping staff. When we returned in the evening after dinner, again it was not delivered until I had to make a phone call and voiced my displeasure before the towel was delivered by a nice gentleman about 30 mins later. The worst experience was during checkout. Another lady staff had refused to accept either the old or new 50 pound notes! I thought these notes are legal tendered by the UK government! Are they suspicious of Asian guests and thought that these could be fake notes? We never had any of such lousy service in any of the more warm and cosy B&B we have stayed in other parts of the UK.

Room Tip: I would not recommend this hotel to any Asian tourists! Period!

Thank you for taking the time to review us. I can only apologise for the towel issue, which should have been resolved much sooner than it was.
The reason the £50 notes were not accepted is that they are soon to be taken out of circulation. l have investigated and they are still legal tender till November this year. So the reason we asked for alternative payment was we were not sure when they would stop becoming legal tender.
I can assure you that I or none of the staff are at all suspicious of our Asian guests, of which we get many. We do endeavour to give all our guests the same warm welcome.

Nigel Williamson,
Manager

An excellent hotel with superb food and a very extensive wine list. The suites are wonderful with breathtaking views of the lake from the room (with terrace) and the restaurant and conservatory. All this and a Royal endorsement - The Queen and Princess Anne lunched there last summer!

I booked this hotel for a 1 night stay over the bank holiday weekend after seeing it on a travel website a couple of weeks earlier. The deal included bed, breakfast and evening meal. As we live fairly locally it was nice to be able to go into the Lakes for just the 1 night. Most hotels usually will only do 2 nights. Maybe you could get just 1 night because it was a Sunday.

The hotel is easy to find. There is no reception so we did stand around for a while before someone came along. However, we were checked in quickly and had a look around the public areas. It is a nice mix of traditional and modern.
The room was nice but the bathroom was a bit dated and could probably do with being refurbished. Lovely Molton Brown toiletries though.
The gardens are lovely and the bluebell wood was especially nice at this time of year.

The dinner was excellent. The dining room is on 2 levels and looks out over the lake. The weather hadn’t been great all day but the sunset was amazing. I would like to see it on a good weather day.

Don’t think I would pay the full advertised price but thought it was good value for the amount we paid and I would definitely go back.

My husband and I stayed here on a voucher deal after recommendations from a friend. The hotel was absolutely beautiful with lots of character and charm. The conservatory area was our first port of call for afternoon tea whilst we waited for our room. The lounge area is perfect for coffee after plenty of walking around Windermere. The dining room is sublime with modern decor and perfect food made to order whilst enjoying the view. However, the bedroom was the icing on the cake. We stayed in the windermere room with a balcony overlooking the picturesque garden and lake. The sun setting over the lake is a sight to behold. Also the small touches such as the shortbread available with tea in the rooms was lovely, shame we only realised towards the end of our stay.
There is nothing negative to say about our stay here. We sadly didn't get chance to enjoy the evening meal as we had already made arrangements elsewhere, however having tasted the breakfast I would say it would be worthwhile. Also, thank you to the lovely lady who assisted us when our wing mirror was lost to a mad van driver who overtook us on a small lane.
A perfect stay, and we would happily return in the future.

Room Tip: We chose the windermere room which has a perfect view over the lake and gardens. Definately request...
