My wife and I wanted a couple of days in the Lake District as it is a favourite place to visit albeit we have not been for a few years. We chose the Cedar Manor after reviewing the Trip Advisor review section and we were not disappointed.
The owners and their staff were friendly, helpful and always had time for a chat. The room was large enough with all the necessary extras and breakfast offered choice, quantity and quality. The evening dinner had a narrow choice but that was understandable for a hotel that has a limited number of rooms. The bar offered a great choice of local beers and also of spirits.
Well worth a visit to enjoy the Lake District in style.

Thank you very much for reviewing you recent visit to Cedar Manor. We are delighted that you enjoyed your break.
Our menu is small as you suggested, just 5 starters, 5 mains and 5 desserts - we change it seasonally and source locally wherever possible. Larger menu's can be achieved but this would often indicate more frozen items being used, which we cannot use as we are 2 AA Rosettes graded, an indication that everything is prepared freshly on site daily in our own kitchens.
We have just launched a more "snack" style menu for service in the lounge/rooms giving our residents an extra set of choices.

Thank you again for taking the time to review the hotel and we hope to see you back in the Lakes again in the not too distant future.

best wishes
Caroline and Jonathan

At the beginning of June we had a 3 night stay at the Cedar Manor in Windermere and cannot rate it too highly, from the wonderful food to the friendly owners and staff. We had a beautiful bedroom with a large comfortable bed, our window had a view over Lake Windermere, and an ensuite bathroom with top of the range toiletries, all superbly clean.
It is only a short walk into Windermere itself and a short drive to Bowness on Windermere, and just beside the hotel is a lane which takes you down to a walk alongside the lake.
So if you are looking for somewhere to stay in the area around the Lake, Cedar Manor Hotel in our opinion can not be beaten.

Room Tip: Our room was one of the superior bedrooms.

Thank you very much for reviewing your break at Cedar Manor. We are all very pleased to read that you enjoyed the hotel and location; there is so much to see and do right on our doorstep including the walk down to Miller Ground on the Lake Shore which you did and the fabulous walk up to Orrest Head, just 20 minutes stroll above the village.
Thank you again for taking the time to review Cedar Manor and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
Best wishes

Recently we spent two nights at Windermere. Chose the Cedar Manor through Trip Advisor of course, based on the recommendations of others. Must say it really reflected the views of preceding comments. The owners, Johnathon and Carolie were great, the staff were very friendly and hospitable. The accommodation, is a tad small, but clean and nicely appointed. Breakfast was very well done and the service was excellent. There are steep stairs to your room, so if you have a problem with carrying luggage please ask Johnathon to give you a hand. The gardens are really lovely as is the outdoor area. Adjacent to the Hotel, is a public walkway down to the lake. Quite tranquil and although you need to walk back up the hill to the Manor House it is not that much of an effort unless you suffer from mobility problems. The start of the town is located about 2 kilometres away. Johnathon and Carolie have a jewellery room with some exquisite pieces. There is also a sitting room and bar. Very well done. Didnt have dinner at the restaurant so cant comment on that.

Room Tip: Choose one of the larger rooms and you have that choice.

Thank you very much for your review of Cedar Manor and indeed the Windermere/Bowness area.
We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit to the Lakes. Cedar Manor is a small hotel, as you quite correctly pointed out, with just 10 bedrooms and suite's we hopefully have a room for most travellers budgets. You picked out a room called Claife Heights and this is our smaller room, but still have a double bed and ensuite with very good shower room. Our website has very detailed information regarding each room and the hotel facilities, we recommend a visit before booking, and of course, book directly with us if you can.

Windermere Village is just 500 meters from Cedar Manor, with Bowness on Windermere about 1.5k further along the road. We direct all guests to our local view point; Orrest Head for one of the easier hills to climb and one of the best views in the South Lakes (just 25 minutes walk to the top from the Hotel).

Thanks again for taking the time to review and we hope you had a good onward journey.
Best wishes

Were staying in Windermere and booked an evening meal in the restaurant. We were very warmly greeted and afforded plenty of time to choose our meal whilst enjoying the appetisers. We were last at the lakes 5 years ago and ate here at the time, and the food and service was at the same high standard. If you're looking for high quality food then it would be hard to do better than Cedar Manor! A real treat.

We stayed at the Cedar Manor for 3 nights in their Conaston room which has excellent distant views over Lake Windermere and the Fells. We chose the Cedar Manor based on the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor and it certainty met all our expectations. It is a lovely small country hotel with a lovely cosy lounge bar and excellent food- ideally located close to Windermere - and very good value given it's Lakeland location. Jonathan and Caroline are excellent hosts and have very friendly and helpful staff. We would go as far as to say it is amongst the best small hotels we have stayed in and hope to return again in the future.
