Over the years of travelling to Windemere we have passed The Lighthouse but always thought it just outside our budget. Tonight we thought why not. Sat outside as they have nice heating and blankets as it was about 7.30. Waited to be served 10-15 mins later I had to ask a passing waitress if we had to go in to order, she replied no and returned with menu's. After ordering drinks, the waitress then asked us if we would like to order. Which did, baked Camembert cheese to share. About 15 mins later a Beef Capppicio arrived with a different waitress. As we explained we didn't order this but we did order baked Camembert. Another 30 mins later I went inside to ask about my order.it had cancelled with explanation .Apologies as a mistake no further except could you wait for your 15 mins maybe. Not happy.

We were lucky enough to have good weather and be able to sit outside - felt like a continental evening. Friendly attentive staff, good selection of beers and tasty, reasonably priced meals, with a choice from snacks to full courses.

This restaurant is well position on the triangular meeting of two roads the out door seating is in this odd shaped area. The seats are a all weather plastic version of the old cane style furniture and each seat has a car type blanket presumably for the colder weather, we were luck as we did not need them. We both had a Chicken Cesear Salad, my favourite such a simple mixture but so tasty. The Lighthouse version was one of the best that I have had recently. The food was a little expensive but it's sometimes true "you get what you pay for" and we truly did in this restaurant.
