“12 Delightful days!”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

Last year we came to Greystone Cottage for three nights and upon our return immediately booked a stay for the following year. We have just returned from twelve delightful days for what now feels like a home away from home. Janet was as cheerful and helpful as she could be. The breakfasts were always fresh and well presented. We spent most of our days walking the limitless trails around the lakes and were given some great tips from Janet. We have stayed in numerous B&B's over the years and have found Greystone Cottage provides the guest with clean spacious rooms and spotless bathrooms with an A+ shower. Well worth every mile traveled from North Carolina.

Our first visit to the Lake District made all the more special by our stay with Janet at the lovely Greystone Cottage. Warm & welcoming, a nice spot to come back to at the end of a days touring. Janet knows the area well and is more than happy to help you find places to visit.

The room was warm and cosy, the shower rates as one of the best I have encountered in the U.K. Breakfast was plentiful, good quality and very nicely prepared.

If I lived in the U.K. I know we would visit again. I hope if we are ever in the area at a future date that we are able to stay at this home away from home!!

This was the first time we've stayed at Greystone cottage and we can't wait to go back! It's such a beautiful little cottage with lovely features and cute knick-knacks, which make it so homely. We stayed in the blue room which was a super size and it had a really good shower, the bed was lovely and comfy and the room had great views. Everything was very clean and well kept!
Janet is so lovely and makes you feel extremely welcome!, nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast was superb, she's a very good cook! Also very knowledgable about the surrounding areas.
Would definitely highly recommend! Can't wait to stay again :)

Room Tip: All 3 rooms are beautiful

My girlfriend and I had a blissful 3-night stay at Greystone Cottage; a delightful bed & breakfast ran by Janet, the most likable lady on this planet. The location is perfect, the breakfast was yummy and our room was absolutely stunning. I cannot emphasise enough how much we enjoyed our stay here and I’d recommend it to anyone, not just as a B&B but as a heart-warming experience also.

We stayed in the generously-sized blue room, which features a cosy double bed, a beautiful interior and a clean en-suite bathroom. Both windows (1 in the bedroom and 1 in the bathroom) look out upon splendid views of the surrounding mountains and woodland. All necessities are provided, including coffee/tea making facilities, soft towels/flannels and a great selection of toiletries.

In summation, every element of this B&B combines seamlessly to ensure an enjoyable, relaxing stay.

p.s. thank you, Janet, for your immeasurable hospitality and advice on things to do/places to eat in Windermere. We look forward to returning (hopefully on an annual basis) to Greystone Cottage in the years to come.

Room Tip: We stayed in the blue room and it was lovely. We did sneak a peek in the other rooms and we also lov...

A couple visiting the Lake District for a 49th Birthday treat.
A lovely place - found by searching tripadvisor etc before our visit & it worked well for us on this occasion.
Janet is lovely and very nice & helpful and also knowledgeable about places to visit etc.
A very very clean and nice property and just a very short walk to the town centre.
A lovely full and plentiful breakfast.
Parking on the road outside was unrestricted and we were never stuck for parking - even if just a short stroll along the street on one evening.
Would we recommend it - most certainly!
The only points of note for me personally was that the bed was a tad 'harsh' (standard thickness mattress on a solid wooden base), and also the curtains weren't lined so started to be woken by the daylight/sun from about 5am - but they certainly wouldn't detract from us staying again.
Thank you for your hospitality!

This is one of the best B&B's I have ever stayed in. A beautiful little cottage decorated with more knick-knacks than I have ever seen in my life! This coupled with the friendliest hostess in the whole of the Lake District, The breakfast was excellent, the rooms were beautiful and the (new looking) bathrooms were top class, the shower was amazing! This B&B is an absolute must visit!

This is the second time we have stayed here and we are going again in the summer. The place is
spotless and the owners are rightly proud of the business they have established. They are really friendly and the food at breakfast is great.Close to the centre of Windermere and a short walk to Bowness. They only have 3 rooms but all are beautiful and recently upgraded. I can highly recommend this gorgeous place

Room Tip: All are beautiful
