A perfect stay in this beautiful old house, set in a great location with views down to Lake Windermere from rooms and the hot tub. Staff were efficient and professional. The room we had was very nice with a huge bath. The decor is very tasteful, ignore the comments by the picky person who was looking for marks on walls and various other negative things. The Samling is a classy place to stay and the staff are great. We had the seven course menu with wines.. this was great and helped by Tom and his superb knowledge of the foods, wines and cheeses. There was a particularly difficult resident who may well have had a little too many drinks before her meal and after having tried to rearrange the furniture in the restaurant to suit her and her partner, she proceeded to rip every course apart because it had 'green things' on it. Staff were both patient and accommodating however they didn't have to do his for long as she was so drunk she had to take herself off to bed mid meal. All in all a very entertaining evening. It's worth booking the hot tub and the cooked English breakfast is delicious.. We will be going back.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the lake

We spent two nights of our honeymoon here and what an experience.
We stayed in Lethera which had a beautiful view towards lake Windermere.
The old was something special and we would recommend trying the gourmet menu with the wines mmmmmm.
All the staff were exceptional!
On our final day there was a power cut due to the extreme weather but the staff just took it in their stride and soldiered on, fantastic experience!

It's been a long time since I have enjoyed staying somewhere as much as I did last Friday.
From the moment you arrive at the Samling, everything about the place engenders a large slice of feel good.

The unintrusive yet efficient and friendly staff are a delight. The ambience is one of relaxed, understated luxury. The tasting menu managed to marry fabulous flavour combinations with "Fat Duck" like innovation. Epic !

That all of of this is situated in a stunning location bestowed with truly fabulous views only enhances the overall experience.

Sublime.

We had our 'mini-moon' at the Samling at the end of July and it was fabulous! We could not fault the hotel, service or food, it was all a delight. On arrival a bottle of champagne was awaiting us in our beautiful room which had a stunning view over lake Windermere. We had breakfast brought to our room every morning and had afternoon tea and a couple of lovely, impressive dinners. The staff were helpful, friendly and wonderful.

We were both very impressed and it was a wonderful way to unwind after the stress of a wedding! We will definitely be back!
