Very good location. Our room 208unfortunately had a generator below it going all the time! Slight view of the lake. Clean room. Hotel needs a bit of updating. Evening meal superb, I
had the duck and my husband the lamb rump very good. Enjoyed our stay a good through Travelzoo.

Room Tip: Avoid 208 if you want a quiet night.

We took advantage of a terrific weekend deal along with our friends who recommended this hotel. From the outset we were not disappointed. The room had a chilled bottle of sparkling wine and some delicious chocolates waiting for us. The room and en suite were spotless and very comfortable. A terrific view of Lake Windermere from our bedroom window was an unexpected bonus. We ate at the hotel for dinner twice, breakfast and Sunday lunch. Every meal was delicious. Lots of choice for starter and mains and some super puddings such as the excellent sticky toffee pudding. The cheese plate was good as well. Over the two days the four of us tried the Lamb Rump, Belly Pork, fillet steak, roast lamb, stuffed chicken and breast of duck. They were all expertly cooked, good size portions and extremely tasty. The sorbet dish was a nice touch (although Gillian just didn't get it). Breakfast was a buffet and very good quality.

The ambiance is just right. Relaxed and really chilled. Stunning views of the mountains and the lake really add to the experience. The pianist is highly accomplished, if not a little shy. He has a particularly light touch on the keys as the piano accompanies dinner with a wide range of melodies.
The real strength of this hotel, that sets it apart from the rest and makes it one not to miss, is the friendliness and high quality of the staff. Each member of the team is a real character and extremely hard working. Monika appeared to work 27 hours a day and always had a smile and a sexy wink. The Chinese lady is barking mad and great fun! Bernie, the crazy carvery chef, is a real character and also works his socks off producing excellent quality food, serving in the carvery with a great sense of humour and cracking size portions.
All in all, this is a smashing hotel and restaurant. We had a fantastic stay here (even with Gillian and John) and can't wait to come back! Excellent on every level and well worth a visit for a meal or to stay. This has to be considered for your Lake District destination!

Lived up to our expectations and many of the positive reviews. Staff were excellent throughout, courteous, polite, and very helpful, especially in restaurant. Food was terrific. Excellent value on a Travelzoo deal: will happily book again if possible. Handily placed for all southern lakes, and an easy walk downhill into Bowness.

Craig manor hotel is a quaint building which looks beautiful outside. Food is wonderful.it is clean although rather dated inside. The staff are very polite and friendly although the one English employee was a little miserable.
The shower is great and the bedroom was fine we stayed in room 101 ground floor on the front of the building off the main road traffic noise was no problem at all.
Would I go again, I don't think so as it was a bit too quiet for us. The little town of brownness had a few shops and a great tapas bar we went on the boat to Ambleside which again was nice.

My and husband and I like a previous couple stayed at the hotel through a Wowcher voucher. The pros and cons about the room we stayed in (303) The room was spotless as was the bathroom the shower fab. On the down side room was small and dark one small window you felt as though you had to have the light on all the time but to be fair the room was in the eaves of the hotel we also faced the main road which was very noisy when window was opened which we had to have because the room was so warm the last down side could do with bigger towels. This may seem as if we had nothing but complaints this is not true we would certainly go back just not to that room. Had the evening meal on both nights cannot fault the food at all, the restaurant is lovely the staff first class nothing is to much trouble, do try salmon and the belly pork. We also enjoy having a afternoon drink in the garden. look forward to visiting again.
