We stayed at this hotel via a Travelzoo deal. This made this hotel an affordable short break.
The room was pretty standard, ok again for the price and a short break. The deal included 4 course meal, which in our opinion was worth it's stated cost, varied menu and beautifully cooked.
Staff were helpful, parking good, pleasant grounds to sit and enjoy the evening sun.
With it's ideal location this made for a lovely short and reasonable short break.

This was a Travelzoo deal - 20/21 July, 2014.
The deal: 2 nights B&B, with 4 course dinner on the first night.
On arrival, we were welcomed at reception and our booking processed in a courteous and friendly way. We were given our room key and directions how to reach it. We had asked for an accessable room and was given Room 101.
The room, when we arrived, was quite dark as it faced east with trees and the main road beyond the car park. The room itself was clean and comfortable and the bathroom quite large with a very impressive power shower over bath. Cleanliness was spot-on.
Our 4 course meal was delicious, the staff excellent and service faultless.
The hotel is in a good location between Windemere and Windemere Lake. It was very warm when we stayed and having the window open did allow some traffic noise in but was not excessive.
We would recommend asking for a Lake view as it faces west with the afternoon/evening sun and a really good view. Would definitely go back again with the great staff, great food, lake view and pub price beer (£3.60/pint).

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view, which is west facing - much better.

We stayed on a 2 day travel zoo offer with dinner which was fantastic value - this was the cheapest of 3 hotels we staying in this week, the other two being top class. Consequently we perceived this as what we had paid for slightly budget although we feel we got good value for money. The way that reception was done gave the impression of a guest house feel rather than a hotel (see later though as this was far from the case).

The food was really nice and the service OK. One particular waitress was over attentive to the point of annoyance - 10/10 for effort but more of a focus on servicing and less about herself would be better. The other waitresses/waiters seemed to be compensating for this and offered good service if having the appearance of inexperience. Of particular note was the chicken and ham pie starter which was delicious and I was surprised a few times at the standard of mundane sounding dishes that turned out to be really good.

The lounge area had an amazing view highly elevated above Windermere and was really pleasant for drinks. The breakfast was good and had a good selection of standard fair. I was pleased to find the kippers were not at a premium but the Manx kipper offered was rather dry.

We found the room small and perfectly formed and although facing the road we did not find road noise a problem in practice.

In summary, not the best or worst hotel we have been to and about what was expected for a reasonable cost. I would have awarded 3 stars for the hotel but the unexpectedly high standard of food and elevated views of Windermere pulled it up to a 4 star - well done on that and thanks for your effort.

Room Tip: rear of hotel has the views and the front the main road

Stayed at his hotel for just one night with my husband and family from Belgium.Rooms were fine although there was a problem with both showers which I am sure will be sorted now as staff are helpful and very friendly. Food was very good although I would suggest you ask when ordering your meal that you would like a bit of time between courses. We were asked to give our choices before going to table and first course arrived as we sat down but unfortunately the next two courses arrived straight after taking dirty plates away which meant we had no time to rest between courses. This spoilt what we hoped would have been a relaxing evening. Definitely no complaints about the food though.

Location is good just a few minutes walk into centre.

Would stay again.
