Just returned from a postponed Christmas do!. The rooms are excellent & clean, staff very friendly & make you feel at home.

We had the four course Dinner & have to say each course was excellent and worth every penny.

The hotel is situated in an ideal location in Bowness, it is within walking distance to the Lake.

I would recommend this hotel to everyone if you want all round quality.

My wife and I enjoyed the hotel until after dinner, when the drunken proprietor joined us in the lounge and started making inappropriate remarks to my wife, which she found rather uncomfortable.

The food was good, tghe other dtaff excellent, but the cost of drinks is rather high.

We called at the Hotel for Sunday lunch and from entering the hotel the staff were wonderful. Took our coats and showed us to our table in the conservatory ,where the views over the lake and mountains with the snow on them,is breathtaking. The food was delicious and even though we were late it was still fresh and tasty. The staff were very efficient and friendly .Over all fantastic will be back in the Spring.

There are so many hotels in the lakes district that our criteria for selecting one was simple. One that was not too expensive that would take our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children aged 4, 6 and 8) in interconnecting rooms or a family suite. Surprisingly we struggled to find such a hotel. However, when we contacted the Craig Manor Hotel by email, clearly stating that there were 5 in the family including the children's ages, they confirmed they had a family suite that was suitable - two rooms (one with a double bed and one with twin bunk beds) sharing a bathroom. It sounded ideal so we booked it and paid a deposit. The email confirmation stated that breakfast was included on both nights of our stay. Shortly before we left for our holiday, we confirmed the booking by email only to receive a response that the booking was for 2 adults and 2 children. We sent the original email trail back confirming the booking was for 3 children which was eventually agreed to. When we got to the hotel, we checked in with no problems. The rooms were lovely and suited us perfectly. Very large rooms, furnished very nicely. They were down on the ground floor next to the car park, which made it easy for us (might not suit people wanting a view but we like being away from other guests). The staff in the dining room at breakfast were fantastic and we had a wonderful dinner in the restaurant one night to celebrate one of the children's birthdays. However, check out was a nightmare. When I went to check out, the account was 10 pounds more than expected - not a lot, but I queried it as I had the quote in writing from when we had booked. I was told that the room should never have been booked for a family of 5 and that it was illegal for them to have given us the room. I was also told that the rate given was on the basis of 4 in the family and that the 10 pounds extra was payable for the third child for breakfast. I had a very clear rate in writing and the manager agreed that the rate clearly stated that breakfast was included for the whole family. However, she still insisted that I pay the additional 10 pounds. Somehow it was my fault that a staff member had incorrectly booked the family suite for our family. I had to argue with the manager for 5-10 mins before she finally gave in and removed the 10 pound charge. I could not believe her attitude. If I had been told when booking that there was an additional charge for the third child I would have had no issue paying. However, when I had received a very clear email stating breakfast was included for the family, I could not believe a manager would argue so strongly. So in conclusion, a great hotel, fantastic rooms, lovely restaurant, but check out left a bad taste in our mouth and spoilt what had been a great stay up to that point. * Note: if you are staying with a family, the bunk beds have now been replaced by two single beds, which we prefer.

We stayed at the Craig Manor Hotel during the Valentine Break and had a wonderful time. We had a room at the top of the hotel so had lovely views over the hills. The room was lovely too. The food was absolutely amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed 3 courses! The staff were attentive and friendly. I would definately return to this beautiful area and hotel!

We booked a room at a couple of days notice and got a good deal on a room with a four poster bed.

Upon arrival, the receptionist was pleasant and helpful and the hotel itself was clean and seemed very welcoming. We were even given a voucher for a free bottle of wine to have with our evening meal.

The room we were given was just as we had hoped, it was clean & well maintained and even though we were on the main road it wasn't too noisy. With the window closed, it shut out what little noise there was.

The restaurant was also very clean and the food was excellent. The only downside to our stay was that the Maitre d' seemed to have a bit of an attitude problem, but we weren't going to let him spoil our stay in what is really a very nice hotel.
