We have just returned home after a fantastic week staying in The Nook cottage at Ivythwaite Lodge, and wanted to tell everyone what a lovely place it is. Highly recommended!

It is in a lovely part of Windermere, away from the main centres of Bowness and Windermere but in easy walking distance.

The cottage is 'a home away from home' with everything you need. Mick and Wendy, the owners, have furnished it to a high standard and made it very comfortable. Thanks to Mick for sorting out the wifi when it wasn't working at the beginning of the week!

There are so many great restaurants, we were spoilt for choice and will have to return to try some of the ones we didn't get to!

We would definitely recommend this cottage and hope to return again in the near future!

I just returned from a 4 day stay with my partner at the Ivythwaite Lodge in Windemere, and all I can say is you will not be disappointed. We stayed in the Helvelyn Room, with a large Jacuzzi bath which was amazing. The breakfast there was so fresh and you couldn't have asked for better. Wendy is a delight and Mick was very helpful with guiding us on places to go around the area. Overall the place is great value for money and driving distance to hot spots were also great. Stay here if you want to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenes of Windemere. Also we went to a little place called Cafe Italia, best Caesar salad I have ever had and the desserts are amazing, must visit it when you go!

Room Tip: Our room was the Helvelyn, it has a massive tub and a large lovely bed.

My partner Anna & I stopped at the ivythwaites lodge for a 2 night get away on a recommendation from friends , I must say I am glad we took there advise what a fantastic place to stay, some may say that as it only has 5 rooms that it is a B&B but be assured this is not the case as I have stayed in some 5star hotels that cannot live up-to the ivythwaite ,your hosts Wendy & Mick are a fantastic team & nothing seems too much trouble (I asked for some flowers for my partner on the booking form on line & we had a lovely bouquet in our room on arrival) Mick has great knowledge of the lakes from different walks /bike rides to places to visit & is more than happy to tell you all about them. The place is spotless as well as the rooms, we stated in room 5 (the gables) this a excellent room plenty of room with the double jacuzzi bath great after long walks and the bed we wanted to take home , the small fridge is a great idea champagne nice and cold to chill with in the jacuzzi . Breakfast is pre ordered the day before & is fresh & excellent quality the salmon breakfast looked great but I missed out as the never looked past the English breakfast. We eat out both nights the jantini Thai was excellent but the Indian restaurants don't seem upto much our friends tried the prince of India & told use not to bother & we went to the mila ok but had lots better . Hope this helps but try for yourself you will go back I am sure .

We have just returned from a 3 night break in the attic room for our 2nd wedding anniversary.
The room was fab, really spacious with a massive bed which was also amazingly comfortable.
The room had a DVD player with flat screen tv and a fridge was a great touch.
The breakfast was very good and the hosts Mick and Wendy were great hosts.
The bathroom has a huge double Jacuzzi bath which was wonderful after a day out walking.
Our only gripe was that our tea and coffee facilities were not replenished at all during our stay so come the last day we couldn't have a hot drink.
The guesthouse is in a great location with only a short walk into Windermere.
If your visiting the lakes then stay at Ivythwaite : )

Room Tip: stay in the attic which I think is room 5 its massive and the bed is the most comfortable thing in the world :)

Just got back from a fab 2 days in the lake. Booked a last minute room at the Ivythwaite on Weds night and was there by thursday lunch time. Wonderful accommodation, warm and friendly host's, immaculately clean with everything you need. We stayed in the Cranny, gorgeous little place. Would have loved to have stayed longer and will defo go back. Lovely setting and close to everything. Totally fab and would tell everyone to treat themselves to a stay at the Ivythwaite,
Enjoy! We did!
