Present hotel not disabled friendly

Review of St John's Lodge
1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 23 Oct 2017
Staff very friendly . Room very clean and tidy and comfortable. When I asked for a disabled acessaible room we were given a ground floor room which was lovely but at no point was it mentioned that the dinning room was down 10 narrow stairs which my partner could not make down. So we colud not eat breakfast together. So as a result we only stayed one night and we were not even offered a partial refund very upset at this.

Thank you for your review. We're obviously very disappointed that you didn't enjoy your stay with us and we've changed our internal processes to make sure that this situation doesn't happen again. In future, when we are noted of a disabled friendly reservation, we will call the guests in advance and talk through the dimensions of the room and all accessibility matters to make sure that we match the guest need to the category of room booked.

Thank you for the feedback. We've acted on it and you'll be super-welcome to stay with us again.

Kind regards

Rich

Just recently stayed here on a short weekend break, Rich, Kelly & Lisa where amazing great hosts! We had a lovely King Size bed which was really comfy to sleep in, all the facilities you would need are in your room, Very nicely present rooms, with a smart TV. The breakfast was also great too, there is a good selection of choices on the menu, I had to have the award winning full English which didn’t disappoint, my girlfriend had the Bubble and squeak veggie breakfast which she really enjoyed. We also liked how we could use the Spa and pool facilities at the MacDonald hotel just at the bottom of the road. The area is great too it’s about 5 minute drive/15 minute walk into the towns near by so eating/drinking out at the recommend restaurants is easy. Overall we would love to come back and stay again really couldn’t recommend this place highly enough!!!!!!

Rich, Kelly and Lisa really do their utmost to ensure your stay with them is as comfortable as it can be, they really do go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and cared for. Their personal touch and willingness to engage with their guests is a tribute to their team effort and probably the reason why they are full, and why many of their guests return year on year.

Room tip: A surprisingly quiet guest house considering it was full every evening we stayed.

We stayed at St Johns Lodge for 4 nights in October. A lovely little place right between Bowness and Windemere, ten minutes walk from either.

Our 'cosy' room was comfortable, clean and appropriately sized.

Staff were incredibly friendly and were genuinely interested in our holiday and making it as good as possible, including recommending places to visit, walks to do or places to drop by on our journeys.

Breakfast was tasty with a lot of options, there was only a 45 minute window when you could sit, but a packed breakfast was available if you had plans.

A lounge is available for all guests to use with a few board games and an 'honesty bar' which we didn't use, but was a good option to have.

Overall, despite the rain we had a really good break, and this was a lovely place to stay. Thanks a lot to Richard and the staff for making it special and we'll be recommending it to our friends and family :)

St. John's Lodge is a nice place along the main road between Windermere and Bowness. It would seem that every house along that road is a B&B. We found the staff to be very nice, the room was spacious, clean and comfortable. It was a bit of a surprise for us, simply because it looked like a honeymoon suite, which we had not expected, but we were fine with it. The staff were all very nice and friendly. The breakfasts were custom cooked and delicious. The B&B is located half way between Windermere and Bowness, which made it very convenient for walking to either town (eachdirection was about 10-12 minutes). We had a great time there.
