Spent 4 days at St John's and had a great stay. Nothing was too much trouble for Rich and the rest of the team. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were amazing. Ideal if you are looking to spend time in and around Windermere or for exploring further afield. About a 10 minute walk into Bowness with plenty of things to do and places to eat.
As we arrived we were met by the owner who personally explained everything about the lodge and it’s surroundings. The room was small but charming with a lovely mix of rural and modern and held everything we needed.
Breakfast was chosen daily to your own wishes from an elaborated menu including choices for vegetarians. We found our walks from the large selection of maps and books in the lounge and the restaurant suggestions in our own book were perfect. All the staff were very friendly and breakfast could be prepared as a packed one if you wanted an early morning walk. We made use of included spa facilities of the Mac Donald and had a cocktail in it’s beautiful lounge. The Lodge is perfectly situated in- between Windermere and Bowness on a well light street which allows you easy access on foot to both. No hunting for parking space ;) In the lounge there’s a large selection of fair priced drinks that can be enjoyed there or taken up to your room. Only at breakfast we noticed that there were so many other guests as it’s so peaceful and quiet. We loved our stay and will be back next time as it’s now our favorite lodge in the Lakes ;)
It was the best lodge I've ever been to.
The lodge was really calm and peaceful so I can have a fully relaxing time.
One of the best thing was their breakfast options.
There are around 30 options, so you can choose whatever you want.
Their room was little bit small but extremely clean.
Bathroom is also clean and it is not as small as the room.
The lodge is located in the middle between the Windermere station and Bowness-on-Windermere.
If you have heavy luggage, then it might be little bit exhausting journey to the lodge.
As a new couple we decided to have a few days away and we couldn't have chosen a better place for our first time away. From the moment we arrived to the time we left nothing was too much. Everything was perfect. after our first night we didn't put out the 'please service room' sign as we were only staying for two nights yet when we got back from a day out the room was as if it was our first day, even my girlfriends nightwear was left under the pillow. All we kept saying to each other as we drove home was that we wanted to go back there and then! When we go back for a longer break I will take advantage of the 'on arrival' facility that they offer and have champagne and flowers waiting. thank you so much for making our first break a special one.
Gorgeous hotel and room. Breakfast superb (pictures attached.) Lovely staff. Beautiful surrounding area. Every detail thought of and nothing is any hassle.
Unlimited access to spa and gym just a short walk away which includes a heated indoor pool and sauna etc. Spa also has long opening hours.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
