We stayed here for 2 nights having chosen it based on the fact it was adults only, has excellent reviews & being close to the train station. The hotels own website provides in depth photos & descriptions of every room which are all individually designed. Based on this we chose Room 19. The room is very large with a very nice bathroom including a jacuzzi bath. It is actually underneath reception as the hotel is built on a slope & looks out onto the entrance to the car park. The only criticism is that we had no Wi-fi signal in the room - the only reason for giving a 4 star rating, as it did cause us some problems. However, the owner did arrange for the Wi-fi to be checked throughout the hotel on the day we left so this may have been rectified. The owners were excellent hosts & very friendly. We ate in the hotel on both nights & took advantage of a very good offer whereby if you eat both evenings, you only pay for one. The choice of dishes was very good & both service & quality was excellent. Likewise breakfast was excellent with more choice than usual. We would certainly recommend the hotel which is in an excellent location & would hope to return in the future.

For the lake district we pride ourselves in having extremely fast broadband and as you rightly say we had an engineer check our wi-fi as your comments were a concern to us. Had a lovely weekend at the ApplegarthVilla, a fantastic hotel with lovely staff! Very relaxing, breakfast and dinner both nights excellent, with a good selection of wines, service was very friendly and professional

Just returned from a wonderful two days at Applegarth spent in the Middlerigg suite. Beautiful accommodation, spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable - the photos don’t do it justice! We dined at the hotel both nights and thought the quality of food and service were excellent. A particular mention for the fabulous breakfasts! Thoroughly recommended

Had a three day break at the Applegarth Villa Hotel. There was ample free parking for guests, the railway station and bus station are a short walk uphill from the hotel. We arrived early and we were able to leave our car on site and had the option of leaving our luggage until our room was available. The reception service was welcoming and efficient offering advice on local attractions etc. Our intention was to see the local area and the room was comfortable and met the requirements of our stay. The public areas were of a high standard. Breakfast was served in pleasant surroundings, the food was excellent with a variety of dishes, the service was efficient but appeared unhurried providing a relaxed atmosphere. There are a number of restaurants a short walk from the hotel however we decided to dine at the hotel which was in our opinion an excellent choice, the bar area was comfortable with individual service and the meals were of a high standard, you have an option of a two or three course menu we found the portion sizes meant that two courses were sufficient. Hotels do ask you to identify any members of staff that you felt gave excellent service, our experience was that all the staff we came into contact with were polite, helpful and proffesional. The local area is beautiful with so much to do and should we return we would look at the availability at Applegarth before viewing any other accomodation. If there was no availability and we stayed in the locality we would certainly look a booking an evening meal. Thanks to everyone at Applegarth for a lovely break.

We stayed in Room 7. The double jacuzzi bath was perfect after long days of trekking up and down hills and round the lake. Food was perfect. Being gluten free means eating out is always an issue. At the Applegarth there was plenty of choice for me. The hotel had a rule of no phones on in the bar and restaurant which was nice. Guests were conversing and there was no pinging of phones. The owners son in law (sorry we didn't get your name) he was there from check in to check out remembered our drink choices and was very helpful with directions and things to do. His service along with all the staff was second to none. Would highly recommend visiting this hotel. We are looking to book again. Thank you.

Needinig a break and a celebration, we booked a couple of nights at Applegarth and weren't disappointed.
Small enough to be personal but big enough to provide luxury, service and a great dinner menu, Applegarth was exactly what we wanted.
Car parking in the centre of Windermere town was very welcome, including prior to check-in if needed.
Our room (11) was well appointed with a very comfortable bed and a large bathroom. We chose it for the view over the playing fields and towards the hills west of the Lake.
Breakfast was served at the table rather than the usual buffet style meaning everything was fresh and the portions were plentiful. The smoked salmon and scrambled egg was especially good. We dined in twice from a menu that had a very good choice for a relatively small establishment.
Service from welcome to check-out was very good. Adults only status was welcome.
As a recommendation, we may well return if we get the chance- that says it all!
Room tip: Room 11 has a view

Its great to hear that given the chance you will return. Considering we are in the heart of the village we are very fortunate to have such lovely views and such a large car park so thank you for pointing this out to prospective Visitors. Thank you also for mentioning breakfast. We do feel that a more relaxed approach with dishes cooked fresh to order and waitress service is the ideal way to start the day.
