“Excellent - lovely hosts”
Reviewed 14 February 2014

We stayed here over the Christmas period. We have a truly wonderful stay - the hosts Sue and Paul were so helpful and knowledgeable of the local area. They recommended Shahib's Indian Restaurant in Bowness for dinner one night and we enjoyed a delicious meal there. The rooms were tastefully decorated and immaculately clean. Very fluffy white towels and comfortable bed.

Breakfast was excellent.

1st time at Montfort Cottage situated central for both Windermere & Bowness no need to get the car out. Paul & Sue were lovely hosts, we were given Thirlmere room warm as toast and the comfiest bed with lovely linen and soft towels.Breakfast is ordered the night before on the menu will fit most guests there is an excellent chose of locally sourced produce lovely farm sausages , and if you change your mind in the morning that's fine Paul will cook just what you fancy . A really homely B&B will return without a doubt 10/10

We stayed at Montford Cottage between Christmas and New Year which should have been a relaxing break however after being taken ill at the B&B I spent my holiday in hospital. However I wanted to comment on the friendliness and support given to me and my partner during this time by the Montford team. Between calling local doctors, ordering taxis to get me to hospital and generally checking on my health not only whilst in the Lakes but several days after I was discharged from hospital we found the B&B to be clean and cosy and my boyfriend tells me the breakfast was excellent. Little touches really count for me and on arrival we were greeted with a flask of warm mulled wine and mince pies - yummy!
Thank you so much for your kindness and support through this dificult time for us.

Liz and Richard

Room Tip: The Superking room is great!

Me and my boyfriend stay here for two nights over the new year and were really impressed with the whole place and would definitely stay here again in the future. We were shown around by Sue when we arrived who was very welcoming and friendly. The room was very nicely decorated, clean and a decent size with en suite bathroom. Sue and Paul had very kindly provided us with a flask of mulled wine, mince pies and mint cake, which was a very nice touch.
The breakfast both mornings was excellent, very tasty and a lot of choice available. We were also very impressed with the times as on new years day they had later breakfast times which was great as you didnt have to be up really early to get fed.
Overall we loved our stay at Montfort and the hosts were professional, friendly and welcoming, with a good knowledge of the area.
Both Sue and Paul should be very proud of this lovely b and b!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Thirlmere room which is a decent size with an en suite bathroom.

We stayed at the Montfort for two nights in between Xmas and New Year. I'm really glad we found this little gem......We were met with a very warm welcome from Sue and our room was elegantly furnished. The finer touches, such as complimentary mince pies, Kendal mint cake, warm mulled wine along with the wine glasses and a cork screw were really appreciated..... Breakfast was second to none and expertly cooked by Paul, offering fresh local quality produce!
We will definitely return for another trip and would highly recommend Montfort to everyone. Thank you for a great stay :-)

My partner and I stayed for one night last weekend and were very impressed. I'd definitely stay here again! When we arrived we were shown to our room on the 1st floor (Grasmere) where they had provided 2 mini mince pies and a flask of mulled wine. I think this was a lovely touch and it was very much appreciated on a cold evening. We were also given some tips on places to eat in Windermere, which was only a short walk away. The room was cosy and we had an excellent night's sleep. The cooked breakfast was excellent and again they were more than happy to make recommendations for places to visit during the day. Sue and Paul were very friendly and I thought it was excellent value for the area. I'd definitely recommend a stay here.
