“Lovely place to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2014 via mobile

Montfort cottage was in a good location, slap bang in the middle between Bowness and Windermere. 10 minutes walk from both. The hosts were extremely welcoming and friendly. The room was smallish but adequate and we had an en suite bathroom. The room was beautifully furnished however, one minor gripe was that our kingside bed was actually two singles pushed together.

The breakfast menu was better than average. Instead of a full English option, you can also order pancakes, salmon, smoked haddock, crumpets etc... And there was a wide selection of cereals including hot porridge and homemade granola which was especially tasty and we would recommend.

Overall I would recommend this B&B and would visit again if in the area.

We are disappointed really with this review in that the guests during their stay said everything was excellent and they had no complaints. I tried to contact them directly first before commenting but have had no reply.
For the benefit of potential guests who may read this review, I have got to say that the Superking bed mentioned in the review is not "just two singles pushed together". It is a professional zip and link built for the purpose of converting to/from a whole bed to singles. The cost of the bed was over £1.5k and to date we have had no complaints on its comfort.
I don't mind dropping from an excellent marking to a very good but I just wish guests would be honest and discuss any issues with us during the stay before going to print afterwards. Sue and I devote our time to guests to ensure their stay is comfortable and value for money.
Thank you Tripadvisor for allowing me to reply to the guest's review.

Chose the Montfort based on others reviews and we were not disappointed. We were in The Grasmere room a compact but extremely comfortable double room. A nice touch being the teddy who looks after your room while you're out and theKendal mint cake. Breakfasts are fab with loads of choice and the service timed to perfection. Sue and Paul the owners are so friendly and if there's anything you need to know about walks don' t buy a book just ask Paul. Will definitely stay here again when we next visit the Lakes

Room Tip: If you like cosy choose the Grasmere

Stayed here for 2 nights as a romantic getaway for me and my partner....

Sue and Paul were very friendly, warm and catered to your every needs and made you feel at home and very comfortable during our stay.

The breakfast were superb!! The bacon was absolutely mouth watering tasty and everything was amazing!!

We stayed in the Thirlmere room which is the purple one.....the room was gorgeous, very clean and had plenty of room to walk around. We also had a unsuite which was just the right size for the room.

I loved the little finishing touches with the teddy bear it really made it feel like home and the DVD cabinet is a brilliant idea.

The location of the cottage is perfect with there only being a
10-15 minute walk to Windermere and Bowness.

Once again absolutely perfect and lovely stay!!

Thanks Sue and Paul we will defiantly be back to stay again!!

I stayed at Montfort with eight friends in April 2014 and we all had a lovely time. Due to our large group size we had to book every room and each were equally lovely and tastefully decorated. Paul and Sue were friendly and welcoming hosts and were very helpful in providing information on walks or other leisure activities. Booking and payment was hassle-free as well. Montfort has a good location with its proximity to many shops and restaurants down in Bowness and Windermere. All in all we had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend Montfort to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in the Lake District.

Very friendly, welcoming proprietors. Small cosy room that was clean and tidy. Quality full English breakfast. Good location. Plenty of DVD's for some chill time. A nice little free box of Milk Tray chocolates to munch on. No complaints. Highly recommend it.

Great place to stay in Windermere. Location is close to the town and there is plenty of parking along the road. The owners were very friendly and had lots of helpful information and tips in what to do in the area. Our room was lovely, nicely decorated, extremely clean and had everything you would want. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice. I would definitely recommend Montfort Cottage.

I love traveling up to the lakes to take pictures and always stop at Montfort Cottage for a night or two during the week. From the moment you arrive you're greeted to a warm welcome, and a cosy and homely abode to make your stay a relaxing and peaceful one. The breakfast is superb and will keep you going while you explore and take in the majestic views the lakes have to offer, which are just a stones throw away. I can't compliment the hosts enough for providing a home away from home, they're almost like family to me now!
