“Lovely home from home ideally placed for exploring the Lake District.”
Reviewed 26 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

This beautiful cottage is very close to Windermere with shops for provisions and restaurants only 10 mins walk away. Bowness on Windermere is only 1.5 miles away with shops, restaurants, cafes and numerous boat trips. The cottage is beautifully decorated and spacious. We would highly recommend.

“A real comfortable place in beautiful landscape”

The cottage is really clean, with comfortable beds in spacious bedrooms. The living room is very cosy and well furnished. There is a big table in the central dining room which provides sufficient space for at least six people like us. Just the kitchen is somewhat limited in space although well equipped. There is no shower in the bathroom, just a tub, but this is due to the limited ceiling height which I guess comes from the original structure of the cottage and cannot be changed so easily. There is a private parking space on the property but due to the narrow gate and street it is somewhat difficult for bigger cars to enter. We decided to park our car on the street in front of the house which was no problem at all.
The cottage is centrally located in the village of Windermere which is a good starting point for a number of hikes. Descriptions of interesting routes are available from the tourist office free of charge. We really enjoyed the cottage and the Lake Distric area.

“Cosy cottage with plenty of space and perfect location for hiking in The Lakes”

We had a wonderful week at Beck Cottage hiking the fells and enjoying the local village. The cottage is cosy, but not small, and had almost all the amenities you could need. The only change we'd suggest is to swap the dishwasher for a washer-drier, the latter would be much more useful. The bedrooms and lounge are all comfy and the cottage has some nice character touches making it a really lovely place to return to after a day's hiking.

Windermere village shops and rail station with a main bus stop are close by, so a self-catering and car-less holiday was very easy. We recommend popping in to Agnes & Cat in the village for candles and toiletries handmade on site, and we had a lovely meal at Wild & Co. If you're a hiker, it's easy to go by bus to several bases to hike from - Ambleside, Grasmere, Coniston, Patterdale and Keswick - and a mile down the hill is Bowness where you can join a lake cruise.

A lovely holiday and we'd definitely recommend Beck Cottage!

“Perfect!”

We traveled in June to the Lake District and stayed at Beck Cottage. We were very pleased with the house and the facilities that came with it! Loved the place. There were 3 adults and a 4 year old in total. You cannot find a nice holiday home :)

The Wifi worked so we could stay connected and the lady who checked us in Michelle was extremely friendly and helpful. The location too is great! Walking distance to shops and stores. Would go back again!
