“Loved it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2013

Laurel Cottage is a well renovated, charming Victorian property close to the centre of Windermere. There is easy, free street parking and good wireless internet access; the room we stayed in (four poster bed) was spacious and included a couch as well as a hospitality tray with a wide range of drink choices, chocolates on the pillow the first night, and great breakfasts. The home made muesli (granola) was wonderful, there was good selection of mini-boxed cereals and fresh fruit, both as prepared dishes and as whole pieces. The cooked breakfasts were superb and the proprietors warmly professional. We would love to stay here again!

A lovely guest house that I shall definitely return to if I ever visit Windermere again. The owners Alison and Wayne are so friendly and helpful, and cook the most most magnificent breakfasts (my favourite being the Bacon Ciabatta with Chilli Jam!) Very well located, just a 10 minute walk from the station which was perfect since we were travelling by train. The guest house is also only a 20 minute walk to the lake, which is fine for those who like to walk! We had the room with the 4-poster bed. Such a cosy room, we've never felt so at home in a guest house!

My parents and me had a great time in Lake District with Laurel Cottage is tidy and clean. Breakfast was excellent, shower was strong enough and there was a refrigerator which we can use anytime on our floor. Especially, the owner, Wayne and Alison made our satisfaction. I am not a reviewer normally but why I am writing it is because we totally fell in love with them character gentle and good-hearted. We will definitely book the B&B next time again! My parents send their regards to you too. Thank you from Japan!

We were made very welcome on arrival by Wayne & given lots of ideas for local attractions and eateries . Room very clean and tidy although bathroom a bit small. Very good breakfast with plenty to eat. It is in a very good location, walking distance to shops, eateries and local attractions. Thank you Wayne and Alison for making our stay in UK so enjoyable.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review and the kind comments that you have made. The couple of rooms with smaller bathrooms were designed to give maximum space in the bedrooms.the bed and breakfast was originally a Victorian home and has been altered to give the best comfort possible.

My husband, our adult daughter, & I stayed at Laurel Cottage May 4-7, 2013. We loved Laurel Cottage! Wayne & Alison were so nice! They made reservations at a restaurant in advance for us, led us to Mountain Goat Day tours, & continually helped us. All the breakfasts were delicious! Wayne is a wonderful cook. Alison made her amazing pancakes for us our last morning. We highly recommend Laurel Cottage to anyone traveling to the Lake District. Thanks, Alison & Wayne!!! You were awesome! NJ, JJ, & NJ

My fiancé and i stayed for two nights over the weekend in Laurel Cottage in room 3 (four poster) We were far from disappointed. Prior to booking, I felt that the pictures of the decor was far superior to many places of higher price. When we first entered, we both commented on how large it was inside; very grand and impressive. The building seems to go on forever!
Our welcome was top notch. Extremely friendly and helpful. We chatted to Wayne about suggestions of places to eat that evening and he was only too happy to explain in detail how to get to restaurants and which ones are the best. We took his suggestion and were not disappointed.

The room was simply beautiful. Spacious yet cosy with beautiful decor. The bed is an absolutely divine nights sleep and there are several nice touches like homemade biscuits on the welcome tray, a hair dryer, iron, a mini fridge and a lovely fluffy carpet which felt especially nice after a long days walking!

Breakfast was superb! Good portion size and a selection to choose from on the buffet including homemade cakes. There is a specials board....choose the pancakes. A taste sensation!!! Particularly impressed that both Wayne and Alison asked if we had dietary requirements and didn't mind adjusting our breakfasts to not include the things we didn't like. They both took the time to chat to us for some time at breakfast about many random topics and help us with our plans for the day.

Location is perfect. A 2 minute walk to Windermere centre. Fifteen mins to bowness.

Overall an amazing stay. Couldn't have asked for better hosts and a perfect place to stay. Definitely recommend!!!!!!
