“Highlight in Windermere”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

My wife and I were three days in the Willowsmere. This excellent little Hotel was for us more: a very cosy and comfortable place where we immedeately felt home, following the warm welcome by Jay. He took the time to inform us about things to do in the region which we enjoyed a lot. Our room was nicely decorated and ultra-clean. The comfortable lounges and the beautiful garden were lovely places to relax with a drink or to read a book. The breakfast was marvelous.
Everything was perfect. Jay and Anthony and their team do a great job. We can recommend the Willowsmere as the first choice for a stay in Windermere.

My stay at The Willowsmere was nothing short of perfect. I felt like it was a home away from home. The room was wonderful, the beautiful garden offered a perfect place for relaxing after walks and breakfast was really fantastic. However, it is the great staff that make this guesthouse absolutely outstanding. Anthony and Jay offer expert advice on things to do and see and places to go for a good meal in the area as well as have great knowledge of the walks in the Lake District. Their helpfulness, friendliness and fantastic sense of humour makes you feel less of a guest and more like a friend staying in their house.
Thank you to all at The Willowsmere for making my holiday even more fantastic!

We spent a week at the Willowsmere and were very impressed from the start. Our initial chat with Jay was geared to our interests (driving more than walking, eating more than exercise...) and we continued to have recommendations throughout the week of places to visit. We were lucky to have fantastic weather, and the beautifully kept garden was a lovely place to sit at the end of the day. All of the places recommended for food were excellent, it was a nice touch to have a folder of menus available, especially for Wild & Co, which had only opened that week. We couldn't manage a cooked breakfast daily, but there was fresh and dried fruit, cereals etc, and when we did indulge, the food was local, tasty and well cooked, and served by a very friendly waitress. The honesty bar was much appreciated, and the whisky collection (we understand the second biggest in the county, and working on being first!) a thing of wonder - including very knowledgeable discussion from Anthony and Jay. They both judged us just right - we like a laugh and a bit of banter, and by the end of the week, they were treating us just as badly as our old friends do! You have been warned, guys, we will be back!

My partner and I stayed for only a night but we were made to feel more than welcome from the minute we stepped through the door. Working locally in a similar line of work myself I have high expectations, you met every one of them guys, well done! Really enjoyed our stay (room 6 overlooking the garden - what a beautiful garden too) cleanliness, friendliness, functionality, the extensive breakfast menu - all fantastic. We will certainly be recommending you to friends! Thank you for a lovely stay.

From the first contact with the hotel on the phone and on email I was made to feel welcome. Providing lots of information about the area and local eating places. On arrival we were greeted warmly and with a lovely pot of tea after our journey. Again very welcoming. Rooms were clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Very homely. Breakfast was a work of art. The service second to none, polite, courteous, timely and nothing was too much trouble. We would most definitely recommend the Willowsmere. Thank you for helping to make my husband's transition to fifty a smooth one.
