The answer is no - what's the question?

For once we found the trip advisor reviews misleadingly positive and wish we'd chosen somewhere else.
This is a B&B not a hotel and a pretty expensive yet mean spirited one at that.
For example the bathroom cosmetics were mediocre at best, breakfast was only available for one hour, seating allocated inflexibly and buffet items frugal and poor.
As for helpfulness, this establishment plumbed new depths. Do you have mustard - no, weetabix - no, have a local map - no.
Our room on the main road was noisy. Our shower water temperature changed without warning from freezing to boiling.
The Howbeck is clean and comfortable but there must be better and better value places nearby.

Conveniently located on the main road between Windermere and Bonness, and generally clean and comfortable. However it bills its self as a hotel when it is very obviously a B&B, the web site is misleading - where are the White Company products? Issues were selecting breakfast the night before, usual practice in hospitals, not welcome on holiday, limited breakfast menu and when it arrives it's over cooked, and an omelette was just not possible! Staff unaware until reminded of Secret Escapes discount in local restaurants and generally seemed a bit odd and unwelcoming apart from the breakfast ladies. Bizarrely hardly any TVs channels and the curtains had red wine stain up them and there was a hair in the bed but apart from all that it was ok at the discounted price we paid.

I travelled in June 2015 so this review is a little late! But trip advisor setting only allow to go back one year. Lovely place to stay with comfortable rooms and great location within a comfortable walking distance to Bowness on Windermere. Was greeted with a bottle of Prosecco which was a lovely touch and a great start to our romantic break. The only disappointment was that I recall the shower didn't work that well and was dribbling rather than spraying. I was reported so I'm sure it will have been fixed by now. Otherwise would recommend this place to stay for a treat short break.

Room tip: Our room was downstairs quite close to reception so we could hear people coming and going but it wasn't a problem for us.

Stayed here for the weekend after our wedding. This was a welcome little break after the stress of wedding planning.
We arrived at The Howbeck and were welcomed by a lovely lady on reception. She offered us some refreshments while we were checking in and the cleaners finished up in the room.
The room itself was beautiful. We stayed in The Mickledon suite. The bed was huge! The room was also really spacious with lots of windows letting in a lot of light during the day. The spa bath was great too. We had pre ordered a bottle of prosecco on arrival which was waiting in an ice bucket when we got there.
The location was good, a short walk away from some shops and bars and a bit of a longer walk down to the lake. The hotel offered us some discount vouchers for local restaurants and also a free pass for the spa at The MacDonald Hotel. The spa is close to the lake so there is quite a walk to it from the hotel, or the staff are happy to order a taxi for you.
The food was brilliant, we had breakfast on 2 mornings and it was fantastic. Highly recommend the Eggs Benedict!
We are already looking to book another trip for our wedding anniversary.

The Howbeck is a beautiful place to stay in Windermere. This is our 3rd visit and it never disappoints. We stayed in the retreat which was ideal for the much needed time out we were ready for! Lovely staff, beautiful rooms, great location and fabulous breakfast. We will be back!

Room tip: All rooms are lovely however the retreat is our favourite as it has fabulous in-room facilities and a beautiful private patio area.

To be honest the accommodation was fine , however I was a little disappointed with our room ( very small, tiny tv and no bath ) the bed was very spacious and comfy and the staff where courteous . Just feel it was a little overpriced for what I was getting.
