My wife and I are about to check out as I write this review. We stayed in the Glenridding room which is very tired looking with damaged furniture and a poor standard of finishing in the bathroom. The bathroom toiletries consisted of two plastic bottles for hand wash and shower gel and not White Company products as advertised on the Howbeck website. Please see photographs.

We have stayed at the Howbeck on a number of occasions several years ago and were always happy to stay again, but standards and attention to detail have clearly declined. In our experience, other guest houses in Windermere offer far better value for money and higher standards.

The only positives were the staff were very courteous and the room was clean. Breakfast was good, but not as good as other guest houses in the same location who charge £92 per night and not the £145 p/n rate charged by the Howbeck.

A disappointing visit.

The guesthouse was in a really good location for exploring Windermere and Bowness. The rooms are nice and of a good size (we were in a luxury room) The breakfast is amazing! Good value for money. Would definitely stay again.

What can I say the hotel is amazing in every way
The staff are brilliant and happy to help in any way they can
It was our 5th wedding anniversary and we had the most amazing time in the Howbeck
