The hotel is nice and oldy worldy just like you would imagine from this area of country. Lots of antiquey type things in the sitting area. Then when you get to your room they are really modern and super clean! Total contrast. We loved staying here. The front of house people were super friendly and went out of their way to show you round, give advice on where to go. The breakfast was top notch, catered to all our needs. I would highly recommend this hotel for your stay!

This is the second time I have stopped at this hotel and it was just as fantastic as the first. The hotel is in a great location and just 5 minutes walk from Bowness town and the lake. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel was clean and tidy. The breakfast was good quality food. I would definitely go back here.

It was not the hotel we planned for because we booked through booking dot com at another hotel. Due to an error on the latter, we were arranged for this one.

We stayed in two rooms as a family of 5 with 2 adults, 2 teenagers and a child of 10 years old. One room for the adults and our three daughters stayed in another. Both rooms are at different floors because the top floor has space that can fit 3 children. Looking at the size, it can actually fit 3 adults. It comes with single queen size bed and a sofabed. I think it was room number 16. For the adults, it was room number 3 at the first floor. This room is more for honeymooner with 4 poster queen size bed fit for a couple. In my opnion, each rooms can only fit a large suitcase (perhaps 2 for the top floor room) but we did not bring them because of the staircase. So we packed necessary clothes in a smaller bag with the rest left in our car. Not a problem to me as I expected that this is not like those hotels in big city where there is concierge and lift. There's plenty of parking for vehicle at the front and the back of the hotel.

Rooms are very clean and they are typical of an old English style including bathroom. Don't expect contemporary IKEA style furniture. First day will come with on the house still and sparkling water with plenty of tea to be made in the room. As we were there in summer, we don't know how the heating performs. Night is rather quiet and sleep is quite easy considering day time outdoor activity taking much of remaining energy.

Breakfast is part of the room charge and available for vegetarian hence suitable for muslim visitor as well. The restaurant is not that big but very comfortable with view of forest at the back depending where one sit. I have nothing to say about service which is acceptable.

Frankly said, I feel it is a blessing from the earlier misfortune because this hotel is in perfect location between Windermere and Bowness town. Therefore, the walking distance between each is almost equal in time. Perhaps slightly close to Windermere but either way are not that far. However, if you are looking for a place overlooking the lake from the hotel, this is definitely not the one.

Finally, the hotel owner (I presumed) is very helpful and attentive in explaining the Lakes areas plus kind in giving us extra hour for checking out.

One improvement that can be made is to install more WiFi repeater because sometimes room no. 3 only receives 1 to 2 bar signal. But then again, one goes to the Lakes to spend out door and not stay in the room to surf the net.

Room Tip: I noticed there is a house behind the hotel but I'm not sure if it is for visitor but worth aski...

I have seen a lot of good reviews here, so I just want to point out the details that people can consider about this hotel.
Good things:
- The lounge is comfortable, especially the chairs
- The TV in the room is big enough, compared to some of the hotels I have been to
- The curtains makes the room very dark, which is good if you want a good nights sleep
- It is in the middle of two town centres and is a nice walk up or down.

Bad things:
- The staff is not exactly unfriendly, but they are just doing their job.  When we arrived, we wanted to pass through the dining area, which no one was dining in at the time.  The staff bluntly said people are dining in here (there was no one), so they can't allow us to move it this way.  We had quite a few heavy luggage, and the other way into the hotel is to carry all around the back to the front.  The staff acted quite blunt and was just working by the book.  There are other examples, but lets just leave it at that.
- the rooms on the top floor is hot (we went in summer).  Another room, Room 2, near the lounge was noisy, because they had the radio on.
- things were broken in the room (eg. Lights, shower doors, the shower...)
- the beds can be more comfortable, and were quite small for two grown ups (we had a double room)
- when we booked, it did say the wifi will work in one of the rooms, but it did not.  We were very close to the lounge, and was on the first floor, but it didn't really work in the room.
- my parents and me and my brother booked two rooms.  They put us in separate floors.  One was on first floor and the other was on the top. It was quite inconvenient for us.

To conclude, it is rated as a 2-star hotel by AA, and that is what it delivered.  The price was not that cheap either, as we went at a high season.

Thank you for your review. When booking rooms we try our best to keep families together but when bookings are made through third parties it is difficult if rooms are not available. It is a very short walk from the rear car park to the front door of the hotel. Wifi is available throughout the hotel. My staff are very efficient and polite to the guests. I am sorry you were disatified with your stay at the Glenburn

5 minutes walk from town centre, where we found lovely various restourants, No WIFI in my cottage I have to go to reception,The staff couldn't have been more helpful. It may not have a high star rating based upon facilities, but it had all the basics. The only downsides that didn't outweigh the upsides were the small (double) beds and the lack of wifi .

This was booked as a gift from our family and we spent a very comfortable couple of nights.
The bedroom was very well furnished and comfortable. It was nice to find easy chairs. The bathroom was spacious and spotless. We received a very warm welcome and shown to our room(something which does not always happen). The restaurant is not large and movement between tables a bit tight at times, but this is "nit picking". The food was delicious and we were spoilt for choice. Breakfast was excellent. All the hot dishes cooked to order and arrived piping hot.
All the staff were friendly and helpful. Good WiFi access There is plenty of car parking and it is only a short walk into Bowness or Windermere. We will certainly come again.

Room Tip: If stairs are a problem ask for a room on the first floor

Booked this at short notice and only stayed 3 nights. Welcome was very friendly, Hi Marta!, and I was quickly booked in and shown to my room. Nice and clean with a comfy bed and a desk and chair which not a lot of rooms have and I found it handy when planning the day trips. WiFi was a bit hit or miss in the room but nice and strong in reception. Ensuite toilet and shower were good and plenty of hot water. Only slight snag was the time it took from ordering to receiving the cooked breakfast. 10 minutes at least on the first two days and on the second I was given an apology for the delay. On the third day the cooked breakfast, excellent by the way, arrived very quickly so perhaps there were problems the first two days.
Would I recommend it? - YES and I'd happily stay there again
