Have spend 3 nights in this hotel. The room was spacious with a tremendous view of on the lake. Food was very good as well. The staff was always friendly.

Room Tip: Take a room with lake view !

We stayed for three nights in May 2012 to celebrate my retirement. From the moment we walked in the door to when we left the staff were wonderful. Special mention to Danny where nothing was too much trouble. We booked at the Merewood because they accept dogs. They treated "Dusty" as their own giving her treats throughout our stay. We had room 2 which was enormous overlooking the lake. A big plus was just how quiet it was in the evening. The hotel was spotlessly clean, warm, and inviting. Thank-you to all at the Merewood Country House Hotel.

Just returned from 3 nights stay at the Merewood. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home, Great rooms, my elderly in-laws had room 5, massive with 2 double beds, spa bath and a cracking view over the lake. My wife and I had room 6, smaller, not such a good view but very comfy,(we knew this when we booked). the staff are excellent, very friendly and helpful. our every request was met with a smile and a chat which my in-laws enjoyed very much.

What can I say about the food, superb, well prepared and presented I can see how they have won awards.

I would certainly stay again,

On arrival at reception we were welcomed with a real fire and a smiling receptionist. On our 3 night stay the staff were fantastic particularly Danny and Joe who has a good knowledge of the area. The food was like being at Master Chef final every night. All reception rooms were superb and very comfortable. Delightful gardens and views of the lake were stunning. Can't wait for our next visit. Many thanks to everyone.

Nearly every hotel, guest house or B&B around the lakes see young children as a problem, and so often landlords and ladies refuse to accommodate very young families.

Not here. Rather than turning a snobbish nose up at our three- and two- year old, the warm and welcoming staff took both boys for a tour of the grand dining and ballrooms, introducing them carefully to the warmth and risks of the roaring fires. All whilst Mum and Dad had the chance to get to see the room so any changes could be made by the staff if necessary.

No changes were necessary. The room was magnificent, well furnished with a cot and sofa bed (that neither child eventually used because Mum and Dad's bed was huge in itself!). Breakfast was another delight, with the waiter able to accommodate all breakfast requests.

So we spent a fantastic couple of days at the Merewood watching the weather coming in across Windermere. In child friendly luxury.

We recently stayed at the merewood as I booked it as a surprise night away for me and my husband as a small honeymoon break! When we first arrived I admit I was alittle disappointed with the room we were given as it wasnt very light and quite small (room 6) However after I went to reception and asked if there were any rooms left with lake views and explained situation we were moved to room two which was the bridal suite for no extra cost!! The room was beautiful very large and very light with a beautiful view of the lake! The bed was so comfy and very clean. The staff were friendly and very helpful and showed an interest in you. The food was amazing definately worth having the dinner and the before dinner canapes were a nice touch! Would not hesitate to stay again but would just ask for a room with a view!

Room Tip: ask for lake view!

Hotel staff were all helpful and polite and made our stay very pleasant. The room we had was one of the suites and was very comfortable although it was hard to see the TV from the bed as it was on a shelf in the wall.

We had the dinner option and it was probably one of the best meals we have ever had and the service was 5*. The aperitifs were a lovely start to the evening whilst we had a drink and decided what we wanted to order.

The location of the hotel is great: nice and quiet but only a few minutes to Windermere in the car. The views were beautiful but unfortunately the weather let us down.

We would definitely stay here again and will recommend this hotel to anyone who asks for a great hotel to stay in for a visit around Windermere

Room Tip: When you book, ask if there are any lake facing rooms, you never know!
