This is a lovely hotel. Warm friendly atmosphere, very comfortable and attractively presented, great food and staff. We had cream tea in the garden and my dietary needs were catered for. Breakfast offered a good selection and fine dining was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would visit again.

Thank you for your recent review on TripAdvisor.

I am delighted that you refer to your stay as 'superb' and refer to the hotel as having a 'warm, friendly atmosphere'. Here at the Merewood, we want our guests to feel as those though they are in a home from home and we are more than happy to go the extra mile for our guests.

The food is something our guests often comment on and I am most pleased this was something that you enjoyed. We have two options for our guests to enjoy. The first is the Merewood Restaurant which offers fine dining, contemporary food. The second option is the Merewood Grill. This gives our guests the choice of something more familiar, whilst still offering exciting choices, such as the 'Breed of the day' or the Tomahawk sharing steak.

Thank you once again for your review and hopefully we can welcome you back to the Merewood in the future.

Kind regards,

Rober Timms

Grounds rooms bar restaurant all just wonderful can't wait to visit again (sooner rather than later) shame I'm married as it would make a perfect wedding setting

Thank you for your recent review on TripAdvisor.

I am delighted to read that you enjoyed your stay and refer to the hotel as wonderful and specifically enjoyed the bar. Here at the Merewood, we have over 60 different types of gin and thoroughly enjoy treating our guests about our range and giving recommendations.

Plenty of our guests often agree with your comment about the hotel as a potential wedding venue. We believe it is a great place to get married and we pride ourselves on ensuring the standard of food remains just as high, whether it be for 2 people or 102 people. We also ensure that our wedding parties have the entire hotel exclusively, so they can really enjoy their big day.

Thank you once again for your kind review and hopefully we can welcome you back to the Merewood in the future.

Kind regards,

Robert Timms

A very warm welcome in all respects from friendly staff and roaring fires on a cold and wet day. A lovely room, comfy bed and all very clean. Views of the lake from the library, drawing room and bar. We had the fine dining meal and enjoyed the food and again all staff very friendly and helpful . We will come again and would recommend.

Room tip: We would upgrade to a lake facing view if available

Thank you for your recent review on TripAdvisor.

I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay and specifically found the hotel to be warm and welcoming. From Autumn through to Spring, we always try and keep all four of our fires lit because we know how comforting it can be after a hard day in the fells.

The food is something that our guests often comment on and we believe we have enough options for all preferences. We are most proud of our fine dining Restaurant but also offer a more familiar Grill menu.

Thank you once again for your review and hopefully we can welcome you back in the future.

Thank you for your recent review on TripAdvisor.

We are delighted to read that you had the perfect getaway and you describe the hotel as gorgeous. We are most fortunate to be slightly raised on a hill, which gives us stunning views of Lake Windermere and the fells beyond. We also have vast grounds which our team do a great job with.

Thank you for your comments about our team. Here at the Merewood, we always try and offer a home from home service and we are more than happy to go the extra mile for our guests.

Thank you once again for your review and hopefully we can welcome you back to the Merewood in the future.

This is a very comfortable hotel. It has beautiful rooms that garner quite lovely views of Lake Windermere and the staff were all good, courteous and helpful. Situated half way between Windermere and Ambleside it is not the most ideally situated hotel and a car is essential - especially for the climb to it, as it's atop a hill at least 100 - 150 metres up. It certainly burns the leg muscles walking up there. I'm giving it 3 stars because of its location, but the breakfast toast is the best I have ever, ever had, it being home made bread. Thank you

Thank you for your recent review on TripAdvisor.

I am delighted that you refer to the hotel as comfortable with beautiful rooms. The staff will also be most grateful for your kind comments about them. Here at the Merewood we try and offer a home from home service and our team are more than happy to go the extra mile for our guests.

I am sorry to read that you didn't approve of the hotel and found that a car is essential. Most of our guests often comment that they like the hotel being 2 miles outside of Windermere as it is close enough to enjoy the hustle and bustle of Windermere and Ambleside, yet far away enough to enjoy the real wilderness and peace of the Lake District. We are also most fortunate to have a bus stop at the bottom of our drive which gives access to both the local station, Windermere or towards Ambleside, Grasser and beyond. For those who prefer to travel by boat, we are also a 2 minute walk from Windermere Lake Cruises pick up point at Blockhole Visitor Centre.

Thank you once again for your review.
