“Never fails to deliver.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2012

Having just got back from another trip to Windemere we thought it only fitting that we extol the virtues of The Ravensworth once again. The welcome, the breakfasts, the rooms and the staff were all of the same high standard we have come to expect. Nick and Cheryl are not resting on their laurels though as they are constantly trying to improve upon an already first class guest-house and are proud to tell you about how they are going about doing this. In this age of fawning and posturing to please customers it is refreshing to find a sincerity from everybody who works there. If you ever want to relax and get away, choose Windemere and The Ravensworth. It truly is a world away from stress and I guarantee you'll want to return. Once again, thank you Nick, Cheryl and the staff of The Ravensworth. See you later in the year.

Lovely welcome - warm scones and lovely pot of tea. Room small but quaint. Breakfast delicous. Service 10 out of 10 would definitely recommend the Ravensworth to all of my friends and we will be back.

This stay was our fourth visit to this establishment. The owners Nick & Cheryl make you feel extremely welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Accommodation is excellent, as is the breakfast. Ideally located for both the local amenities and touring the area. Would thoroughly recommend this venue without any hesitation. A pleasure to stay there.

Room Tip: We stayed in our usual room which was room 6 on the top floor, excellent, lovely re-furbished en-sui...

We have just returned from The Ravensworth in Windermere where we had a fantastic, relaxing night. The owners are lovely people who make time to welcome you with a drink and cake on arrival. It is literally a 5 minute walk into the centre of Windermere where they is a good choice of shops and restaurants. We found the choice of DVD's excellent for our evening and the free internet access if you need it.
Breakfast was of a high standard and lots of choice of pastries, cereals, jam and cooked breakfasts.
The only criticisms we have are:
- There was no plug socket under the dressing table in the bedroom so when drying/straightening hair you have to sit on the bed, drag the wire accross the room and use the mirror from a distance.
- We stayed in room D and found that from about 8 o'clock in the morning there is constant noise above the room - people walking up and down, this was quite disruptive when trying to sleep, I think the room is directly below the kitchen. Would choose a different room next time.
Aside from these minor criticisms we had an enjoyable night and could not fault the location, owners at all - it is the perfect place for a relaxing getaway.

Room Tip: If you want sleep after half 7/8 o'clock then avoid room D.

Thank you for your review and we welcome your comments. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay with us but are sorry to hear you had a couple of issues which detracted from your overall experience. Firstly, we think you may have not spotted the plug socket on the wall to the left of the dresser as this has been put their specifically for using hairdryers etc when sat up at the dresser.

With regard to the noise you experienced from above, we apologise profusely for this. We do our upmost to ensure guests are not disturbed whilst we are preparing and serving breakfast, but please appreciate that bedrooms are within close proximity to each other and some guests do rise early.

We do look forward to welcoming you back soon.
Many thanks

Stayed just for two nights at I felt like a good price for B&B £35 per night when I arrived at hotel I was greeted/shown round and offered a scone and cup of coffee, very nice touch. Had asked for single and they gave me a double as it was available, good service and idea that costs nothing more to them but I appreciated.
I was very happy with room it was at the car park level lower ground floor at the back which had a door right next to it to allow access to car for walking stuff and easy access to car I found this very useful so you did not have to walk through main part of hotel with any dirty boots clothing etc. The Breakfasts were of a good standard and well cooked the only negative thing was the very limited time window to have, I normally stay in big hotels and you have between 7am-930am to get your breakfast we were told 0830-0900 small window and missed on one day, my own fault I do not set alarms when on holiday. Lounge was comfortable and most usefully great range of OS maps and Wainwright books and a file with suggestions and contact numbers of things to do if required.
Location great and for those who would use train station 5 mins away Cinema 10 mins away and Lake Windermere 15 mins away. I found the staff to be very polite and attentive but had the right balance to not keep bothering you unnecessarily. (great key system you got one that opened your room and front and back hotel doors so you could come and go as you please) Will for sure use again in future

Room Tip: Noise not an issue any would be fine but if going for walking would ask for one leading onto rear ca...

Peter, Thanks for your review and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. For reference to future guests can I please though point out a couple of details that you mentioned. The rate of £35 is a weekday special offer that we have been running during November and December, the usual rate is £47 per night B&B. We also cut the breakfast times down as we find that we are quieter during these times so this is why we offered the 8.30 - 9.00 times, our usual breakfast times for the rest of the year are 8.15 - 9.30. We always welcome reviews here and appreciate you taking the time to do so, it is also good that you found our maps library useful. We look forward to welcoming you back to The Ravensworth. We have just returned from a two night break at the Ravensworth. It is beautifully clean, the staff are brilliant, and the breakfast is first class, the owners work hard to make the all their guests feel welcome. If you want a great place to stay in Windermere this is it. Thank you for a wonderful break.
