My boyfriend and I went on a train trip through England and stayed at this guesthouse for 2 nights. We travelled from Bath to Windermere(5 hours by train) and arrived late in the afternoon. Cheryl welcomed us very friendly and showed us the lounge and the room. She invited us for some tea and (delicious!) cake and showed us the map of the surrounding area and gave us tips on what we could do during our stay here. What a warm welcome!

The room we had(room no. 1) was great. A comfortable bed, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cookies, bottled water, chocolate and an iPod docking station, what a service. The room was very clean and wel decorated. The bathroom was also very clean and modern. The lounge was always open to guests who want to sit there, play a game, read a book or use the PC with internet. There is free WiFi, though it's sometimes slow it's more than enough to check your email, facebook, twitter etc. This isn't a problem as we(and most of the guests I think) were out and about most of the time.

The breakfast was great. The staff is very helpful and you always have enough toast, coffee and tea and even a croissant while waiting for your order. The Cumbrian Grill is definitely worth trying, and I really enjoyed the scrambled eggs with salmon.

There's a lot of things to do in this area, and if we want to come bank we'd definitely go to the Ravensworth again!

Our first time back in the lakes after 32 years we took a chance with trip advisor re this hotel.
What a great choice! we were welcomed by Cheryl the landlady who was not only informative but obviously had a passion for living in the lakes and wanted to be part of its community.
We stayed in one of the outside chalets which was a second home, great decor and a bottle of wine and Mr Ravensworth the teddy to greet us.
The hotel is 3 mins walk to pubs, bistros and restaurants where we were could sit outside in the evening sunshine watching the world go by.
Beware of the breakfast in the Ravenscroft!!!!!! not only set in a lovely conservatory but is was first class and we could hardly walk after having juice, cereal, toast, croissants, then a well prepared cooked Cumbrian breakfast. As we were on a walking holiday i suppose its not best preparation but who cares......we were on holiday!
I would like to compliment the waitresses as they were polite and attentive and had a smile for everyone.
We intend to return in the winter and will be booking the Ravensworth again.

Room Tip: We stayed in the outside Chalets which had a patio, quality fittings inside and couldn't want a...

We have just got back from a lovely two night stay at The Ravensworth, Originally we had looked at various places in the Lake District and couldn't find any where we liked. We happened to stumble across a Living Social deal and booked.

Throughout our booking experience the hosts Nick & Cheryl were on hand to answer any questions we had. On our arrival date we were shown around The Ravensworth by a friendly and smiling host where everything was explained in great detail.

Upon first look at The Ravensworth it is set just off the road and has it's own private car park to the front and rear of the building, it is wonderful and quiet and the grounds and building are beautiful. The room and dining area are homely and relaxed, the decor of the bedroom was perfect with a modern bathroom, and was fully equipped with everything you may need.

Breakfast in the morning was sublime, a large selection of cereals, fruits, and cooked options for breakfast and staff were there to wait on you hand and foot.

The Ravensworth work closely with a local spa in bowness if you like to swim and have a relax in that atmosphere.

Every one at The Ravensworth were friendly and helpful, this was the best way to spend our first anniversary and we would recommend to anyone who is looking to stay here, as we are planning return year after year.

Thank you for helping to make our anniversary perfect. :) :) :)

Room Tip: We stayed in a king room, lovely size and perfect location.

Great stay last weekend, perfect location to visit Windermere and lovely B&b, clearly well maintained throughout. We have stayed before and each time has been fantastic. Tip: room B has a new bathroom and lovely private patio. Can't wait to visit again as the owners are fabulous hosts and really look after their guests.

Thank you so much for your review. It is always great to see guests returning to us (for a third time now) and appreciating the changes that we have made over the last 3 years. We have now fully refurbished all of the guest rooms so we are actually wondering what we will do this winter, I think it will involve 2 weeks away on a beach somewhere. Many Thanks and hope to see you again soon. Nick & Cheryl

Thank you for this review and we are so pleased that you enjoyed your first visit to The Lakes. We have recently finished refurbishing our patio rooms and everyone who has stayed in them have liked the work that we have done in them. The whole guesthouse is now refurbished so we are just wondering what we will do this winter, as for the last 3 years our Januaries have consisted of knocking down walls and fitting new showers, we think a short holiday somewhere may be on the cards. Many Thanks and we hope to see you both again soon. Nick & Cheryl
