Just got back from 2 nights at this hotel. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast and evening meal were excellent. The rooms were very clean with crisp fresh bed linen. The hotel is in a good location. Would certainly recommend to family and friends. I look forward to a y return visit.

Just spent 2 nights here, using a voucher. I went with my husband and our Labrador dog. We were allocated room 3 which is one of the garden rooms for guests with dogs. These rooms look out onto the beautiful rear garden, where you can walk your dog. There is a terrace running the length of these rooms, with heavy metal chairs and tables for each room. It was a real bonus being able to take our dog out into the garden for his first/last walk of the day. The only trouble is if it rains as you all tend to trail a bit of dirt back into the room! The bed was large and for me a little too firm (I suffer arthritic problems), but with a lovely comfy quilt and crisp linen. The bathroom had lovely white fluffy towels. The room was very clean, as was the bathroom and the decor was fresh. As pointed out by others, some of the stair carpets were rather badly worn on the edge of the steps. There was fancy downlighting in the bedroom which took a little working out! I felt the lighting in the bathroom was a little weak for when you were working at the mirror. The shower was also a little weak and slightly complicated. Staff were pleasant and accommodating. The breakfast had a good choice of juices, fruits, cereals, croissants, toast, jams, tea and coffee. Hot made to order dishes and were well cooked and presented and delivered piping hot. We ate in the hotel one evening and whilst a bit expensive, were well prepared and cooked. I'm vegetarian and was disappointed to see there was only one choice, and the same meal was offered on our second night, so for these 2 reasons we ate out in Windermere. There are several lounges where one can relax with a drink and meet company. Board games are also supplied and there is low background music. However, the lounges were not particularly well used and so it was hard to meet company. The hotel is approx 3 miles outside Windermere, so within easy reach by car. It also looked as though a bus ran there as there were stops along the roadside. Would recommend and would stay again, using a voucher.

Room Tip: This is a quiet hotel, outside the town. Large extensive grounds and plenty of free parking.

We just arrived home after a very pleasant 2 night stay at The Briery Wood Hotel.. I went there with my husband and took our dog (German Shepherd) We were all made to feel very welcome and the staff were lovely and could`nt do enough for us. Breakfast was delicious and served lovely and hot. The evening meal was really nice and we had the best sticky toffee pudding ever.
The bed was spotless and very big and everything was nice and clean. Even though I have a dog it doesnt mean i like the smell of dogs in a hotel, but this wasnt the case at The Briery Wood. ,.
The hotel was lovely and fresh and so was our room..

Room Tip: If you have a dog, ask for a garden room. These are rooms that hav ea door leading straight out on...

Could only stay 1 night out of the 2night deal we purchased from kgb (£99) but the bedroom (17) we had although not the best view, (car park) was lovely big and immaculately clean and with a massive bed and lovely crisp white bedlinen.
breakfast ample servings with plentiful toast and coffee...service quietly efficient and friendly. Yes the public areas looking a little sad in appearance and carpets worn in places but nothing that spoilt our stay but think as commented before by others this was because of the good deal we had don't think it's worth the £140 pn price tag because of the negative reasons given. If another deal was offered would gladly stop again.

Not much to complain about here,,, ok so the stair carpets are showing signs of wear but in no way does this distract from what is a great little hotel with budget prices.
The room was clean and well appointed with high quality linen and a door leading out onto the beautiful extensive grounds. The public areas were adequate and the bar has a good selection of beers and malts. The menu was a bit restrictive but the food was good (in fact the breakfast was as good as any with the best black pudding ever tasted!!)
The position is ideal between Windermere and Ambleside (no lake view).
Staff were pleasant and very efficient,, hats off to them all.

We stayed here 21st and 22nd March and got a great deal. We had dinner on the 1st night which was excellent! Good beer on tap, friendly staff and in a good location between Ambleside and Windermere. We were told we would not have a large room before we arrived but found the room large enough for us both. It was tidy and very clean, especially the bathroom. Would definitely recommend this to family and friends.
