On our drive south from Inverness, it was a great second night stop over halfway between Ambleside and Bowness (walking distance) it's quiet and set in beautiful gardens.
The room was compact, modern but very clean and was one of the best nights sleeps in ages. The staff were all very pleasant and chatty and willing to help. We only ate breakfast as we went into Ambleside for supper. Breakfast was good, service was excellent, however just watch out for what time they start serving. I think we went down at 8:00 and they only start serving at 8:30 which is weird in the summer as I would have thought that most people would have wanted to be out and about by that time.
