“Great hotel would stay again”
Reviewed 30 August 2014

On our drive south from Inverness, it was a great second night stop over halfway between Ambleside and Bowness (walking distance) it's quiet and set in beautiful gardens.

The room was compact, modern but very clean and was one of the best nights sleeps in ages. The staff were all very pleasant and chatty and willing to help. We only ate breakfast as we went into Ambleside for supper. Breakfast was good, service was excellent, however just watch out for what time they start serving. I think we went down at 8:00 and they only start serving at 8:30 which is weird in the summer as I would have thought that most people would have wanted to be out and about by that time.

Room Tip: Room 8 very comfortable quiet and a nice view of the garden

We stayed here for 2 nights before going to a wedding. The rooms were clean, warm (it was August but you could turn the heating on, which we needed!) and the shower was great. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice and the staff were enormously helpful and attentive. The grounds are beautiful and the wifi was fast and free. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for one night 22/8/2014, as going to a wedding reception in the Lakes. We had 2 rooms, both lovely. Staff were very helpful. Lovely setting. Breakfast was not up to standard though. It could have been served warmer.

Stayed at Briery Wood on 8th August 2014 the night before my daughter's wedding. Party consisted of family, bride and bridesmaids. From arrival to departure staff so friendly and accommodating. Lovely gardens and relaxing lounge. Evening meal very nice. Bacon butties brought up to brides room on Saturday morning which helped ease the nerves and meant girls could get ready without worrying about going down for breakfast. Thank you to all staff for your kindness ..... would definately return in the future.

A great location between Windermere and ambleside, Beautiful well kept gardens with a magnificent monkey tree in the grounds. Staff very friendly and down to earth. My room was on the ground floor which I liked as they had doors that opened on to a small terrace and a view of the gazebo and lawns, I have stayed here before, all the rooms are different, the one at the front has a small balcony. Also, I do like they still provide tea and coffee in the rooms, a lot of hotels don't which means you have to get up, dressed and go to the breakfast room, but here you can enjoy your morning cuppa in relaxation and in the afternoon enjoy one with the yummy biscuits provided! Breakfast is a must, everything on offer, and the briery wood platter will set you up for the day! I didn't dine in the evening but they do, do an evening meal. Yes, I would certainly visit again.

Room Tip: The one with the balcony

A lovely hotel with some of the best staff I have met for long time, when you first arrive the carpets on the stairs are threadbare at the edges and you worry about the rest of the Hotel but no it is very comfortable and pleasant the garden room are definitely the best, unfortunately the food was not up to the standard of the Hotel it was passable but not the best.

Room Tip: The garden rooms either 1 - 2 or 3
