A lovely hotel with a great location that has wonderful views. The room was big, well appointed but the decor condition was beginning to look a little tired. The staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was excellent with all the usual choices, but the evening meal was as good as it gets. Don't book in to this hotel without experiencing at least one evening dinner. You won't regret it.

We stayed here for two nights. Ideal place for a walking break in the lakes. We could not fault the hotel. The place is very clean, rooms spacious and well equipped. The garden and grounds are lovely with views over Windermere. We did not eat dinner at the restaurant as we like to try out local places but the breakfast was very good, including the fresh fruit! Special mention for all the staff, who were most friendly and helpful. This is how a hotel should be run. Highly recommended.

We stayed only for one night to attend a meeting in the hotel. What an absolute gem of a hotel it was. Oozing luxury from the moment you walk through the front door into the reception. Check in was very quick and we were then escorted up to our room being shown different aspects of the hotel on the way. A very spacious room with a wonderful view out over Lake Windermere. As I was admiring the view I spotted a deer foraging in the tree line. What a way to start the day. Staff were all very efficient and one in particular stood out above the rest. Step forward Scottish Andrew. Personality supreme and nothing was too much trouble for this man.Food in the evening was superb with a set menu for us of Scallops then smoked chicken consommé followed by roast loin of venison and then a fine selection of sweets then coffee and the hotels own chocolates to finish before our party retired to a private room for the evening. I would whole heartedly recommend this hotel to couples and families or anyone who wants a good quiet nights sleep

Room Tip: rooms at the rear of the hotel have views of the lake and gardens too. Best chance of seeing any wil...

Stayed here for two nights 13th-14th April. What a great find, really pretty place with lovely surroundings. Our room no14 was big, very clean, great telly, and brilliant lighting for reading at bedtime! All hotels should learn from this. The breakfast was excellent, great choice, fresh ingredients, attentive staff. The views from the hotel are amazing with beautiful lounges to sit and enjoy.
We will be returning again in the future as it is now our firm favourite.
Thank you for a most enjoyable stay.

We stayed at Cragwood a few weeks ago whilst checking out local hotels for our wedding. Richard did a fab job of selling the hotel to us, and make us feel welcome, as did the rest of the staff. We felt really relaxed sat by the fire with a pot of tea and enjoyed the stay. We narrowed our search down to 2 hotels and went back last week to make a final decision. This time we didn't stay, but met with Philip who showed us round some of the bedrooms, and chatted with us about the day and our options, whilst we drank tea.
We felt right at home and have booked our wedding day here for later in the year. We were made to feel that we would be looked after, and anything was possible.... Apparently the weather is going to be good for us to on the day! lol

Room Tip: The old part of the hotel has lovely views.

Just spend a fantastic 3 days with our family, 6 adults, one nana, 4 children and 2 dogs. Great staff who attended to all our needs and more, nothing too much trouble and very friendly and hospitable. Food amazing, dinner was most excellent and breakfast truly bespoke. Location is excellent. Everyone in our party had fantastic time especially Rocky our 6 month old portugeuse water dog.

Already planning another visit.
