My partner and I visited in January after my parents bought us a voucher for Christmas. It was simply wonderful. The surroundings, both internally and externally, were lovely. We arrived just before three and we were personally shown to our room by the receptionist, he was very friendly and spoke passionately about the hotel and it's facilities. We then went down to the old part of the hotel for cream tea which was included with the voucher. We were given a selection of teas to choose from and then shortly after our cream tea arrived, it was excellently presented and tasted great. We then sat by the window looking out at the amazing view while we drank some of the extensive choice of gins and played cards, Jenga, battleships and trivial pursuit (all provided by the hotel).
We then retired to our room to get ready for the evening meal. We were in room 12 and it was very roomy and the shower was powerful and lovely and hot!
The evening meal was superb. It was a 5 course menu and we enjoyed a bottle of wine too. Every single bit of the food was an excellent standard and we eat in Michelin starred restaurants a few times a year and it was definitely on par. The service was also excellent, attentive burnt too intrusive. The only hint I would give is to ensure guests sign for the meal and add a section for a tip as we did not have cash and therefore we didn't have an opportunity to give one which we would have liked.
The next morning we had breakfast and again the food was superb, absolutely no complaints! Very tasty and good sized portion.
Check out was stress free with the bill being presented in an itemised format and all correct.
We would definitely return.
