Highly recommended. From your personal arrival greeting from Philippa and Trevor, with tea and shortbread in the conservatory, this guesthouse continues to excel with the quality of the rooms, the facilities, the helpful local information and the superb breakfasts (I particularly enjoyed the 'special of the day' smoked haddock with poached eggs for a change).

As others have said, the location is good, so you can choose to walk into Windermere or Bowness, and there is ample car park space.

Good people deserve to succeed and it's a pleasure to simply praise a couple for a job well done. Thank you both.

Don't hesitate, in my opinion just book it!

Our warm reception with tea & shortbread from Phillipa set us up for a lovely 2 nights here. We had room 6 with "wet room" bathroom fully accessible for all. Our windows opened onto the car park which was NOT a problem at all. Hawksmoor is halfway between Windermere & Bowness and there are plenty of good places to eat in either direction. A rainy Saturday didn't stop us enjoying a ferry trip to Lakeside & the motor museum (plenty for girls there too). Delicious breakfasts & warm hospitality. Thank you Phillipa and Trevor.

We stayed here for 3 nights. Not a thing to complain about. Check in was smooth and informative. The room and it's ensuite was gorgeous. Spotlessly clean. We had a balcony room which overlooked the stream behind the b&b. Sadly the weather didn't allow it to use it as much as we liked. Happy to cater to special dietary needs - one of us is lactose intolerant so we were given a jug of soya milk to keep in the fridge in our room. Tea making facilities provided (also two wine glasses and a bottle opener - nice little touch). Breakfast was gorgeous. Nothing to fault. Defo recommend staying here.

We stayed for two nights, having originally booked through booking.com but then booked direct with guest house as this ensures you are getting a room of your choice. We were warmly greeted by Helen (someone who straight from the off you can tell is very good at making the guests welcome and happy to suggest places to visit), and enjoyed a cup of tea on the conservatory before we were shown to our room. Trevor met us and kindly offered to carry our bags. We were in room 12 (which has a fridge - don't remember it saying so on website) which was very comfortable and had a balcony and view of woodland and stream. Breakfast was fantastic and set us up for the two days we were here. It has a feel of a hotel (calling it a b&b doesn't do it justice) but has a much warmer and family feel to it. On leaving we were met by Phillipa who was genuinely keen to know whether we enjoyed our stay and our trip. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit.

It is very well placed for walking to either Windermere or Ambleside.

This was certainly the best b&b we stayed in during our 17 day tour of the UK. The owner ,Trevor , and his wife ,Phil , were fantastic and went out of their way to make our 2 nights as comfortable as possible. Our room was quiet and looked over the woods. It was very tastefully decorated and had everything we needed - including hot chocolate. Tips on the sights and things to do were spot on. We highly recommend this b&b and certainly will return. Thank you Bosch.

Room Tip: Room 10 was quiet and view of the woods behind the guest house. The room was fully equipped and the...

We spent three weeks in the UK in May, and without a doubt the highlight of our trip was the week we spent at the Hawksmoor Guesthouse in Windermere. Before we even arrived Trevor and Philipa were so kind and helpful in giving us advice about the room selection. We decided on #11, on the ground floor with a lovely seating area in the bay window. Although it is located facing the street, we had no issues at all with noise. The bed was unbelievably comfy (something you would put in your own home, but not normally found while traveling); the linens were beautiful; floors in the bedroom and bathroom were heated; and I could write a whole paragraph on the bathroom alone -- fantastic! Suffice it to say Trevor and Philipa have done their research on what constitutes the perfect bathroom. It was state-of-the-art and you definitely felt pampered. It was hard to imagine a breakfast that could compare to the high standard of everything else -- but they managed that, too. Not only was the selection of deliciously cooked (and generous) breakfasts done to your order, there was also a cold buffet that had fresh fruit, juices, breakfast buns, assorted cereals, etc. We had breakfast in many places while we were traveling, and couldn't get Trevor's perfectly done bacon out of our minds....SOOO tasty!

The icing on the cake was their wonderful support staff -- always upbeat and smiling and nothing was ever too much trouble. You could tell that the goal of everyone at the Hawksmoor was to make your stay as perfect as possible...and it was. It's not surprising that the Hawksmoor is #1 in Windermere. I can't imagine how it could be improved. Thanks to Trevor and Philipa for such a great experience; we hope to see them again in the future! Sharon and Bob
