Description: At the heart of Gilpin is a very passionate family and team, dedicated to creating lasting memories for their guests, who return time and again for celebrations and escapes. With five stars, one Michelin Star and three AA Rosettes, warmth and friendliness are balanced with extraordinary service, exquisite décor and stunning culinary experiences at these two luxury country houses spanning two estates in the beautiful Lake District. Dine in either the Michelin starred main restaurant, ‘Hrishi’, where Hrishikesh Desai combines great Lake District produce and classic methods to deliver unbelievable textures and flavours with just a twist of Asia, or in ‘Gilpin Spice’ a new informal restaurant transcending international boundaries, with an open kitchen focussing on dishes from the spice trail spanning the Indian sub-continent, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan and China. At Gilpin Hotel all of the bedrooms have lovely Lakeland views, most leading directly onto the gardens - 6 Garden Suites with their own cedarwood hot tubs, and 5 fabulous detached Spa Lodges with private ensuite spas (rainmaker showers and steam rooms inside, hydrotherapy hot tubs and saunas outside) for a very special, private experience. Just a mile away at Gilpin Lake House, just 6 suites enjoy exclusive access to 100 acres of grounds, including a stunningly beautiful private lake, boat house, pool, hot-tubs and spa.

We visited for Sunday lunch and we're really pleased we did! Couldn't fault any part of it. The surroundings, atmosphere and food were 1st class. The staff went out of their way and were really friendly.
The lunch was one of the best we've ever had, if not the best (and the portions generous).
We will certainly visit again.

we have just returned from a wonderful meal at The Gilpen Lodge Restaurant and I would definitely eat here again. We ordered our food as we sipped out drinks and nibbled on delicious slices of Pata negra ham. I had decided on the smoked bone marrow for my starter as this is a real test of the kitchens skills and it was perfect. Our shared main course was a roast loin of venison was cooked medium rare as ordered, and followed with brilliant lemon tart and a very good cheese board. Our waitress was extremely knowledgeable about the food , and was delightful and charming ,I was surprised when she told us she had only been in the UK for a year as her English was perfect, we had a wonderful afternoon and enjoyed a walk in the gardens admiring the gardens and the Llamas grazing in a nearby fields I have no hesitation recommending this restaurant to anybody

My husband and I visited Gilpin over the Saturday of the Easter weekend for a lunch. We opted to sit outside as the sun was shining, and felt a little under-dressed for the formal atmosphere inside. We shouldn't have worried. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, they made us feel so welcome. We were served some olives and cheese sticks with the most amazing truffle dip, to start us off. We both had the cauliflower soup to start, which came with truffle toasties. It was divine, smooth, rich & creamy - I never thought I would enjoy a vegetable soup as much. This followed with the Poussin - which was incredibly tender and literally fell off the bones. We had kale & crispy pancetta as a side along with some carrots, which were equally good. We finished off with the lemon tart, which again, was flavoursome and very more-ish. The wine list was absolutely amazing, the most comprehensive I have seen in a while. We chose one of the more reasonably priced bottles (£30), which was a silky, Reisling, of which we ordered another! We finished the second bottle off inside, on the couches as the weather had turned slightly. Again, the staff were so accommodating, nothing was too much trouble and we stayed for another hour relaxing amongst the afternoon tea drinkers :) The meal (2 starters, 2 mains, and 1 dessert) with 2 bottles of wine came to £130 which we were only too happy to pay. Great setting, friendly people, fantastic food. What more could one want...

We have eaten and stayed here for thirty years and always enjoyed the experience - good food , excellent service in comfortable, relaxed and classy environment somewhere you would be happy about bringing friends and family for a special treat and not be disappointed. The food on this visit was excellent and we especially appreciated the attention to my wifes' dietary requirements (no butter or cheese). The recent upgrade of reception etc. works well and the staff are friendly and helpful and make the experience very relaxed and enjoyable.

Just visited Gilpin Lodge Hotel Lake house for dinner, we have been to Gilpin quite a few times over the last 5 years and have always found the atmosphere, decor to be the best of any we have visited anywhere in the world, but this time managed to have dinner in the Lake House, this is with out a doubt the best place to eat anywhere, full stop.
Again the staff are well trained and deliver a standard of service at the highest level possible, a real must go to place
