“Probably the best guest house in Blackpool”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2013

We have stayed in many guest houses and B&B's and this one tops them all. When you walk in the first thing you notice is how spacious it is. It has a homely feel to it, the rooms are a good size and exceptionally clean. The little touches such as chocolates on the bed, a mini fridge, well stocked tea/coffee, biscuits and cotton wool/buds in the bathroom makes it feel that little bit special. The full English breakfast is large, freshly cooked and delicious, (Pete's fried eggs are perfection!!). When we asked if we could have breakfast earlier on our last day so we could get off on our 5 hour journey sooner, Pete accommodated this with no hesitation. In the evenings we enjoyed spending time in the bar, there are a good selection of drinks available and the conversations were always interesting. If you are looking for a relaxed environment, good hosts and the absence of crying babies and noisy children then this is the place for you. It's situated in a quiet area of the North shore with only a 15 minute pleasant walk to the main town. Thank you for a wonderful weekend and we look forward to returning soon.

A 2 night break on the recommendation of, and with, good friends. And, what a wonderful guest house this is!. On arrival the owner, Pete, made us incredibly welcome. The room was a wonderful surprise, spacious, spotlessly clean, full of little extras that make a difference. The whole place is immaculately presented. Great modern decor, and a real homely but professional feel. Pete cooks up a mean hearty breakfast and the choice of cereals, yogurts, etc were very much appreciated

After staying in Blackpool on several previous occasions and leaving with a less than impressed view of the B&B experience, the Ellan Vannin has certainly exceeded expectations. We will definitely be back and will recommend to anyone we know who is planning a trip to Blackpool.

Back once again and warmly welcomed as always by Pete & Lorna. Food excellent perfectly cooked and made to order. Rooms extremely clean and comfortable and everything you need is there. Lovely comfortable lounge with bar if you wish to stay in and have a rest at night with a great selection of spirits, wines, beers and soft drinks. You will not be disappointed if you stay here.

Room Tip: All rooms are great

Stayed here 2010 and read the negative review and don't know how they can say what they said we had a great stay here breakfast and main meal was first class and informed us after breakfast what was for dinner and when one of my party said they didn't like what was on it wasn't a problem Peter gave her a choice to pick from which I thought was very good of him because usually the week deals are set meals. I would like to give the owners a big thank you for a great stay and would challenge anyone to find a better guest house that has the lot friendly, very clean, great food, high slanders and owners who make you very welcome

Room Tip: All rooms are the same very clean only thing lower floor with walking difficulties

Excellent Guest House and you truly do feel like a guest of the family rather than just another customer. We arrived very late at night and we received a very warm and friendly welcome. The room was spotless and the bed truly the most comfortable I have slept in. Breakfast was amazing perfectly cooked and served with a huge dose of humour. Such a lovely couple and they know how to include all their guests in conversation. Loved our two nights and will definitely be going again

Recently stayed for two nights. I have to say that we do not usually stay in B&Bs as we usually choose hotels. However, as we were visiting Blackpool we decided to try a good old B&B. I found this on a Blackpool website and rang to enquire about vacancies. Pete, the owner was very friendly over the phone and I thought I had made a good choice. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by Pete and he showed us our room. It was really really spotless - I would defy anyone to have found any dirt in there. We even had a sea view!! (well, could just about see it through the houses in front!!). Lots of tea/coffee stuff including a little mini fridge - which was a lovely touch, TV, bathroom products etc. Bathroom a good size with a large shower (no bath but I knew that when I booked). The room was really nice and bright which is good for me with my failing eyesight! My only criticism was the water was not that fast coming out of the shower.
BreaKfast was at a set time and it was just like having your family around. Very chatty and friendly. Of course some people do not like that, but we did!

Quite close to the tram stop but its a nice walk along the prom even in the rain.

If I were to visit Blackpool again, I would consider staying here. Thanks Pete and Lorna
